#dues
I've hit rock bottom Once or twice Been to the moon and back Lived on the thinnest ice I've gathered some scars And I've talked to the stars Spent some time behind bars I have paid a due or two I ran for my life From an angry Moose I looked up the proper number of Twists in a noose I turned the tables on a hungry bear I've climbed the mountains and breathed the rarefied air I have paid a due or two I've had my long dark nights of the soul I've seen the pieces, and I've seen the whole I've pushed a boulder up the same hill many times Just to watch it roll back down, so, once again, I make that climb I've written riddles, hymns(riffs) , blog entries, and rhymes I have paid a due or two

A Due or Two
They told me to Let it go... And... I Found that I have nothing there to let go... Still searching for that song that to be sang! Still looking for that life to be lived! Still aiming to reach the beat that shows I'm alive! I'm wondering If.... there are answers to those questions; Are dues still not yet paid? Are sins not yet repented? Are wounds not yet healed? Am I still having a human's heart? Am I still holding that soul which will guide me? Am I still pure?

Try!
I came directly from through the ranks All my dues paid, my homage to life To my God alone all my humble thanks For bread I slice with prayer knife . I came strictly from my very own hood All of my dues I paid through my strife To mama dear for prayers and our food For all she sacrificed to save my life . I came humbly from a very blessed home All my dues are paid through my chores To charity, that says take and share some For all I learned , I am beyond my shores . I came strongly ready to join the hustle My dues paid with my years of readiness To poverty, a real caveat for my struggle For I've persevered through steadfastness . #Vanguard-poetry

My Dues Are Paid
So you said that I should pay my dues but I'm sure that I'm in credit And until I can prove it's true and news, you'll pretend you never said it It won't matter what you say or do I'll believe what I'm believing So slice off another piece of you and I promise I'll be leaving

Cause
I'm standing here on the side of the road, rain falling on my shoes Sorrow clouds my view Lord knows I've paid my dues Standing here in my misery knowing I'll never see the sunlight Seeing my life as just a blight Lord knows I'll never get it right I'm standing here on the side of the road, rain falling on my shoes I can't help but sing the blues Lord knows I am confused The demons reign within my memories Lying "it truly had to be" Lord knows my life's in jeopardy I'm standing here on the side of the road, rain falling on my shoes This agony remains in my soul infused I know the Lords amused
