#defensiveness
Each curl of conversation
stills my tongue, half-sentences
stranded in the mire
of biting reason
words silently form
protests, defenses
reasons and intentions
worthless to ears already fed
with the insistent conundrum
accompanying every attempt
at reconciliation.
