my summer bucket list
consists of one item:
keep fighting
even on the days when i feel like i already lost the battle
before it started
keep swimming
even when i'm so deep under the water
that drowning is the easiest choice
keep breathing
even while my lungs are compressed in my chest
collapsing from all the pressure
keep living
even though the world has given me every reason to die
keep living
even when my life is crumbling and reduced to rubble
keep living
because the darkness can't win
i
won't

She cashed in her retirement fund,
every penny-- though pennies are no longer minted--
and booked a cruise.
Her body can work but in the most simple sense
that it works; mobility is slowly running away
from her.
The medical system fails nurses, after all,
especially those who can't be nursed themselves.
She doesn't expect, I suspect, to have
many more chances for adventure.
I'd venture a guess that she
had accepted this.
If she has to worry about the frozen chest
clamping its jaws around her, why not
take every coin and toss it
in her bucket?

A football game was the call
And I stood tall
A purse full of wishes
Landed in the ditches
Should have trusted my intuitions
On a Trailways bus
Mile after mile
Losing my inhibitions

I found a hole in my bucket list
Like an hourglass
My dream are slipping,
Dripping on my bare floor.
I should be really ******
Because I'll miss
Entering through unknown doors.
I haven't time to fix the hole,
The grains are moving,
And Mammy's calling her babes home.
My favourite just hit the ground,
Like a blood stain,
Or a sewer vein,
It makes not a sound.
Two floats in the air,
Three's on the lip,
Four swirls near a hole,
The remaining dreams
Are caught in the eddy;
The final drop's precariously ready.
Eliza's fix would surely falter,
My bucket list can't hold water.

I want to travel and learn about the world.
I want to go to museums and galleries;
and write about my thoughts.
I want to meet new people,while drinking dark rich coffee.
And most of all,
do I want to sleep.
