the tree of life
with its roots entrenched in ego
incessantly watered by
the fountain of desire
flowers lofty expectations,
which when unfulfilled
crumble like dry leaves
from flames of disappointment
and the smoke of anger,
poisoning mind and intellect
till humans are human no more

Krishna whispered—
"Act, but seek not the fruit,"
Only then will the soul be freed,
Only then will the cycle recede.
"Lose yourself in devotion,"
And the web of attachments will shatter,
"Light the lamp of wisdom,"
And ignorance will no longer matter.
When nothing remains mine or yours,
Only then will I touch the divine shores,
When "I" no longer remains,
Only then will "I" truly reign.
