#adopt
A day like any ordinary day– Doing all the normal things From the straight path I stray– Something pulled my heartstrings A picture spoke a thousand words– Inviting me to come for a visit Feeling like I was part of the herds– Life was about to meet a new pivot Pulled in by her stunning beauty- Greeted with her spunky curiosity Heard her story and knew my duty- Her life needs love and generosity Our home may be the perfect fit-

A little story
Eyes that show you "I will love you forever" Eyes that tell you “I am smart and clever” Eyes that say “My love has no end” Eyes that ask you “Will you be my friend?” Eyes that show you "I want a lap to rest in" Eyes that beg you "Please tickle my chin" Eyes that want to be chosen and cared for Eyes that stare at the shelter door   Eyes that remain hopeful as you decide Eyes that tell you “I will stay by your side Eyes that say “I’d like space to roam” Eyes that ask you “Can you give me a home?” Eyes that beg you “Please pick me” Eyes that show you how happy you can be!

Cat's Eyes at the Shelter
I've doubted your passion towards me in the past my faith in the past my faith in our permanence was dwindling fast But as days go by, you drift closer to me and it's easier to see how compassionate you truly can be I'd don't want to have your babies I'd don't want to get married but I could see getting a dog with you maybe just maybe

I'd adopt a dog with you
I saved a person today She walked down the corridor I was jumping in my cage Maybe I could get her to adore I tried to hide my mess That was left in the back and such But I had no choice I don't get out of here much I saved a person today As she looked at my face I didn't know what to do So I sit down in place The humans love the puppies in here They don't hang around long My humans died in a car crash And I was left all alone I can do tricks and go outside I can sit on your lap when you cry I can bark at the door I will always be by your side I know I'm just an old dog But I'll love you forever and always I'll even watch TV with you I'll can fetch and play all day I saved a person today And she carried me to the car I can walk on a leach I can make a new start I saved a person, you see And that human saved me © 2020  Michael Messinger(All rights reserved)

I Saved A Person Today
Mothers. Possibly one of the significant contributors of the phrase “Empowered Women, Empower Women.” They overcome adversities, challenge social norms and break down barriers – rising and raising their child with them. They plant flowers in the garden of their children, so they can bloom. They pour love out like a waterfall and nurture those who drink from it. They enflame hearts with compassion. They orchestrate and create harmony amongst their children creating a beautiful symphony. They pave roads and liberate. They voice out and amplify the ones of their own. Here is to their depths of love that supports and caresses. To their cheers that uplifts. To how they raise and confront the world. To their softness. To their boldness. To their resilience. To their sacrifices. To them bringing out the best in us. Here is to their ability to create an insurmountable power that only grows. Here is to them to being driven and passionate in their own authentic way. To them carrying out their integrity. To them setting examples, aspiring us to emulate. To the ones who give birth, adopt, educate and raise. To the ones who devote their lives to their families care, to the ones who balance. Here is to them creating ripples carried over generation. To them shaping us and thereby shaping the world after them.

Prose: Mothers
what defines its worth? because personally, I've seen a lot of lazy, shiftless excuses for a statement get the highest honors, while my precious children starve alone in the cold

What Is A "Good" Poem, Anyway?
A dog shouldn't spend it's life in a cage, Where even a week can feel like an age. Sad and alone, not knowing when it will end, Wishing and hoping for a new human friend. But thanks to every volunteer's donated time, And every donators dollar, cent or dime, A new life is given to each beautiful pooch, A new family to love, cuddle and smooch. So thank you to everyone, your kindness is rare, We thank you so much, for your help and your care. ~ Written for the Oahu SPCA

At The Shelter
There are millions of dogs and cats in shelters Why can't we shelter them from this?

Shelter Them
The marks that cover the Place that used to be your Home . . . Are by far, the scars that affect me the most.

Adoption:
A life I never asked for A life I'm forced to live But a life nonetheless, right? My scars scattered across my body My eyes dull My heart empty My soul... soul less? But a life nonetheless, right? Father and mother dropped me off at my grandma's and never came back She's had me since I was 3 She died working to support me And now it's back to back in foster homes Sometimes they're nice, other times... very, very bad. And on to the next I go But a life nonetheless, right? I'm at the top of my class and skipped ahead a year But I'm called an overachiever My intelligence isn't great anymore Talent isn't great anymore Just trying isn't great anymore You just don't You give up before anything can happen so they can never say 'you're not only letting others down, but yourself' But a life nonetheless,  right? A life nonetheless. A life. This valued, precious life.

Orphan
Shall I bind you with cords of kinship, Instead of ties of flagrant love? Shall I catch you with family kindness, Instead of arrows from above? Am I a coward, or a faithful friend, who longs to keep you to the end, A fool a liar a lover unrequite dangerously chaining you to a rose I claim is white?
