We belong to Generation Z
We are objects
Mass produced, labeled, and sold
We are facebook, instagram, twitter
The fear of corporate America that we may define ourselves
We are molded, whittled, eroded
Down to a sliver of what could have been
We are given castles in the sky
And heads in the clouds
We are given smartphones and iPads
Our eyes are looking down
We are potential, opportunity, the future of the nation
But there's no future for this robotic generation

and we asked you for help
and you laughed at the candor
and we dropped dead like flies.

****** t-shirts falling from
clothing lines as clothing pins
litter the floor of the morgue

and parents pick out caskets
ten sizes too small, for dead
babies and children of the

night, the ones who had been hanging
from street lights and shooting stars,
who asked for help in the form

of loud music, slow dancing,
painting in dark colors, tying
red balloons to doorknobs,

and leaving home without layers.
these children, they’re wearing t-shirts
in late december and you’re

wondering why they’re shivering.
in the mean time, you turn your cheek
and lift the zipper of your fur coats.
a metaphor for suicide

We all grow.
Your closest friends seem to be leaving.
Yes we were kids I know,
We could be what we were pretending.
Like astronauts, presidents,
super heroes, firemen.
Those were simple days
When we were kids just playing games.

But now...

Gold chains glow.
For some reason I’m still dreaming.
All the kids I know
Are needing something to believe in.
Money, drugs, ***, poverty,
Liquor stores, and partying.
If this isn’t the real world is this all just still a game?

And now...

Time moves slow.
It seems like I was only dreaming.
We’re not the kids I know.
It’s really hard to keep believing in
Truth, love, and honesty.
So drop the chains, let’s sail these seas.
We could write stories about what we have failed to be.
Step off the beach
And step in to the dark, starry waters
Do you feel the cold unforgiving waves?
Still ****** after their slaughters

They reflect something so unreachable
That it becomes something beautiful
For we all want
What we can’t have
So we submerge ourselves with the galaxies
And let the cosmos steal our last bubbling breath
As we slowly sink under the waves of this world

Waiting for a celestial death

Like a heavy pair scared, aliened hearts.
Let's hope the numbing pain of heartbreak and loss
Will slowly suffocate along with us
We are being crushed
Under the pressures of perfection
Most without hope of a resurrection
This is a genocide
Of the mind
And of all those who were kind

The cold teeth of ignorance will surly **** us
Because the media sugarcoats
Because our parents don’t know how to raise us
Because we have teens slitting their throats
With the rest of us sitting here taking notes
Using their last words as quotes

They say that beauty is only as thick as the skin

Tell that to the corpses
Floating on what could have been.
Just thought I would improve my last poem.

I see my reflection
I hate what I see
I punch the glass
My knuckles bleed
I'm shattered
Pick up a piece
Slit my wrist
I bleed, I bleed, I bleed, I bleed, I bleed, I bleed, I blee........

if you want we could
go for a movie or
or something because I
well I saw you once
with your
the way you held the flower in your hands
after whats-his-face asked you to prom last year
(was it a rose? I think it was)
and you kind of
you did this thing that sort of looked
well it reminded me of it's a wonderful life
you know that, um
the Christmas one
well your eyes looked like that movie
I know that's crazy
but that's the only way I can say it, ******
we all know him

i am way to tired to even ponder the thought of how i got to exist beside
you
and how on earth you wanted to exist beside me
too
i don't ******* know
Silver Lining Nov 2014
Have you ever been so exhausted that

your words come out like feathers,

and breathing feels like a chore?
