Summer nights are my favorite...

To be able to sit on a hammock
Or in a rocking chair
Feet bare, shorts barely peering through
The edges of my long tank top
And not have a worry in my mind

On a night like that
Some would have a beer
or wine by their side
But I am a southern girl
So sweet tea will do just fine

As I peer through a screened in porch
I see the sky on fire
Scorching red and orange and pink
As if to emphasize the condition
of the world around me

As I sit there
in the silence of the evening
I feel a slight breeze
Like a gentle smile
Or comforting arms around me
Reminding me there can be
Simplicity
Beauty
Peace

No matter how young I was
Or how old I will be
I will never forget the feeling attached
To the profound subtlety
Of a summer wind
Where did you come from how did we end up in the same place it couldn't have possibly been a mistake.
You and your smile came into my space when I felt it was too late, at a time that i thought i could only make mistakes.
And its only been a few days but is it wrong to say that you make me feel some type of way.
You say everyone loves the way your hair just sits on your shoulders just so fair but would you believe me if I told you i just don't care how much you say they like your hair the way i like it is a lot more rare
unlike them i can get lost in every curl of your hair and how each strand has a different way of curling.
I want to know what was it that made you deny a compliment because the moment i say you're cute you think its your que to shut me down.
The attitude you have in not showing too much care tends to slip up here and there but i know you still don't care even if its not fair i think I'm willing to take the dare that is liking a girl with such curly
  hair.

Night folds over another day
And fireflies burst into glow
Amongst soft summer trees
They shine like living stars
And my eyes turn to the universe
As warm winds sigh across my hair
I breathe in the warm perfume
Of Earths rich and golden season

Echoes of crickets
Motors rumble and growl
The night's symphony
I can't sleep so ofc haiku writing is a given

i can’t wait for the long summer nights
that are soon approaching as the days
become hotter and the nights become cooler
i can’t wait to kiss random girls and boys
at concerts and parties with bitter taste of alcohol lingering still on my lips

i can’t wait to feel the sun kiss my skin each day as i go out wearing short shorts and a crop top
i can’t wait for the long night drives to nowhere with friends,

all the road trips we’ll take to the beach, all the new people I’ll meet i can’t wait for laying down beneath the stars while listening to r&b and smoking a blunt

i can’t wait to travel to different countries, experiencing the culture and life
i can’t wait to find somebody to love

And lo, with evening shadows comes the twinkle of the stars.
Yonder is the rising moon and further west is Mars.

How wondrous is The Milky Way, away from city lights.
The silence seems to deafen me on sultry rural nights.

Oh, I could sit upon the porch and listen here for hours.
Indeed, the night reflects the subtle magic of nature's powers.

Play on, oh evening symphony and with this starry scene,
Delight my senses off to slumber with a summer dream.
I so enjoyed the beautiful glow of the moon tonight.
Sweet sultry dreams tonight!

Those summer nights,
spent by the sea.
Wrapped in your arms.
The world spinning out of control,
while we just stood still.
Holding on to each other,
like nothing else in the universe mattered.

Sad music playing.
The smell of magic and a bit of salt in the air.
Watching the sea meet the sand.
Gazing into your eyes
and at all of the stars,
they almost look the same.

These are the summer nights I wish I had.
Instead, I'm left with a broken smile.
Sitting on my bed at 1 am crying my heart out.
These feelings will fade,
but for right now;
they sting so much.

on a warm summer night,
i looked up and saw an empty sky
it would've made me sad

but thank god,
you were by my side.

stars: the watchers: no passing cars to block
the path to oblivion.
                                                                                    /fly/

arms spread wide, wind whipping
ripsrustlesslipsslidesslices
unfurled fingers cutting
ribbons in the fabric of the atmosphere.

acrid scents of city pollution fuse
with mown grass and night dew and waking trees:
a cocktail served through the nose over the breeze--
fresh air in a dead man's lungs.

here is life lived on high
giddy wheeling 85 and 90
not a soul in sight
enveloped in the music
dazzled by the starlight
drunk on speed
delighted
dizzy to
die.

I tiptoe across the wooden floor avoiding all the creaks.
Moonlight streaming through open windows of a silent summer night,
casting shadows over rumpled sheets of a well-used king size bed.
I hear the water running in the bathroom across the hall,
grabbing clothing strewed around the room I move with ninja speed.
Hunting for the elusive pair of ******* I just can’t seem to find.
Forget it, time is almost running out, I need to leave before that door opens.
Rushing now I grab my stash and head for the front door,
lightly hopping, stealthily propping as I pull on piece by piece.
Last, my shoes, I grab as I unlock the front door,
grab my keys, leave the note and run out barefoot.
“It was fun, I had to run, see you again someday,”
get in my car, start the engine, drive, drive away.
