sparklers are for the people who
love more
than they could ever
be loved in return,
for the ones who
exhaust
extinguish
their own light for others
to only appreciate them
for a moment and then
be forgotten,
for those who run out in rainstorms
for people who won’t even
stay with them in the sunshine,
for the ones who wait until
everyone around them is shining before they
ignite their light and glow.
but you can’t live by just
borrowing love for an instant or
living with the
ashes of other’s achievements;
you die a fresh death every time you listen to
those voices
that crash down on you like hail until
you’re too numb to move
you’re too over it to try
you’re too cold to ignite
at all.
know your worth :)

She is a woman to marvel,
Igniting a passion that lies within she illuminates the darkness,
Crackling with aspirations and exploding exuberantly she propels into the unknown,
To face the foreign and conquer speculation,
Leaving behind a trail of glitter in glistening light,
She is but a breathtaking sparkler dazzling all in sight,
Blessed is he who gets to hold her and bask in such glory.

Your eyes are the sea at a boardwalk on a sunny day,
with the sea foam splashing small children holding onto their drippy ice cream cones,
begging their mothers for "one last ride".

Your eyes are the sparkle in a sapphire stone,
Precious, something to be coveted and treasured.

And when you smile...your eyes, they glitter and dance,
like sparks flying off of a sparkler on the Fourth of July.

I am the summer sparkler,
Clutched between the
Sticky fingers of a child.

I burn bright and fast,
My shivers lingering
Behind closed eyelids.

I shutter with light,
Brought to life with a match,
Dripping with flare.

I am kindled and caressed
By the night air and
The eyes of all.

I am a short lived passion,
Marveled and held tightly
Until I sizzle into darkness.
