What is it
to be
yet to not?

I dream.
I was not made to,
yet I do.
Such wonderous and
terrible dreams.

I see them,
the lost
and the hopeless.

The souls of the ******.

What is it like
to be born whole?

Dream of me.
Dream for me.

Dream,
        dream,
                dream.

I am not real.
Unless
I am.

we are certainly uncertain creatures
dancing in the night of our dreams
no more accuracy
than a hot air ballon on a windy day
concern to certainty
the heart gives none
it only shows the path
souls veracity spoken
universal language
science physics
linguistics of the heart
universe wrapped around
your private cellar
boldest red heart
complimenting the golden glow
welcoming sanctum that is you
where patience resides
connecting a mirage
mere reflection of rooms and 6 obstacles
mirror maze of self-doubt
where you mostly see yourself
once in a blue moon
great flicker of a distant star
the light enters
moment of brilliance
confidence stands tall
offering of truth
in that moment seconds turn forever
timepiece in a Dali painting
when eyes are locked
burdens dissolve into lightness

Walking through the city of souls
A city where it doesn’t matter how you look, because only beautiful souls shine
A city where people don’t care about the way they will look when they are older, they just try to be a better person than they were yesterday.

My lips sealed
Crying into my pillow
Eyes wide open
Into the silence of the night
An echo in the distance, faintly heard

I remain...still
My heart shattered
Aching heart
Bruises that won't heal
Finality...Finally
My heart aches for all the broken souls...

Back in the corner of the closet
they rest covered in layers of dust
so thick I can barely see their color
but I remember the days of trust

I placed in them on ladders
dragging the hose through mud
standing before the radial saw
cutting with fear of drawing blood

Yes they are quite ugly
scuffed and parting at seams
soles worn and getting holey
walked through broken dreams

But I’ve got more work to do
I shake off the past with their dust
put on these old shoes cozy and true
and step into another future with trust.

I chose you though I am not sure why
Many reasons why we shouldn't be
It feels more like the universe
Divinely made the choice for me

It's obvious you are the dangerous pick
Living life fast without care
Despite the toll you take on my health
Can't imagine having you not there

My soul magnetized to yours
Smile a drug I consume
Addicted to your presence
The moment you walk in the room

I cannot control affection I feel
Skin craves the brush of your hand
Failing to explain what it is about you
To others because even I don't understand

It is not what I see in you
But what I don't in anyone else
High when you shoot one glance my direction
The ice surrounding my heart just melts

It is how you always offer your embrace
Even when I am being unfair
How you think I look just as ****
In my comfy modest underwear

It is your ability to make me laugh
When I have been crying all night
Though you are usually why I'm upset
Touch once and suddenly I feel alright

You may not treat me well
But better than I deserve
You make up for flaws with patience
I get on your last nerve

We fight lots more than we used to
More problems to figure out
I'd rather care enough to talk through our feelings
Than have nothing worth arguing about

I could find someone shiny and new
Yeah, I could get along,
Without a doubt I am certain
No one besides you makes love so strong

Do not ask me why I love you
I don't really know
All I can say is our souls are drawn to each other
Your heart the one thing I can never let go
Asking why I love you is like asking how water tastes: impossible.

Broken heart
Umi Jul 2019
A stimulating impulse,
Leading to the center of a drying up ocean,
Never a wish granted, it dries up to extinction,
What little hope it holds, vanquished in an instant,
Life that now cannot grow out of light, creates a desert,
How many souls will it take until it is satisfied with its destruction ?
Only sorrow may remain as the one true victor.
A heart felt fancy would be the assumption,
Of a brighter, lively future,
Yet there is no faith in it ever coming,
It is but a lost dream.
