We've locked ourselves
in rooms of steel
created safe places
designed like prison cells
everyone says there is no way
to escape
without someone to call out our name
and no way to be free
without a light to guide us through the maze

But it will always have to be our feet
that takes us through this hell
And our own eyes
that will lead us well

Relying on others to help you is wrong
a delusion taught to you
through poems, stories, and songs
It will only be you and your willingness to heal
But that does not mean you have to walk alone
to break down all your seals

Stop this searching for that 'one true love'
the more you look
the further your real goals will become
to truly love another
is to forgive and mend yourself
because resenting your actions
only hurts everyone else
you do not love if you hurt and hate
it will only be your hands
that opens your heart's gate.

True love takes work
true love takes time
it only comes across your heart
when you work hard to be of sound mind
But what would I know?
I'm only sixteen

what experience would I have gone through
to really know what that love means?
Be kind, be gentle, be the silent strength inside.
Be a stream that leads to a river.
and is not needed a telescope,
the colors you exclude is more than black and white
you are your own northern lights,
displaying an ethereal sight.
my last poem in the series inspired of Aurora Borealis by Bohnes. I hope you guys realized that self love is our own aurora borealis :>

Life will become simple if you begin to enjoy sadness too.

You see Babe
My love is too valuable to keep at the bottom of your drawer
Too immense to keep in store.
You cannot throw it on the highest of shelves
And decide to keep it for yourself.
It is not yours to take.
You think you can come back for it when you’re bored
And keep it along with all the other loves that you hoard.
This one isn’t like your rest,
This one will not be another forgotten conquest.

You spent a lifetime looking for the flame
to burn,
to be consumed
to feel the warmth

Didn't you know by now?
you need not anyone to combust
the flame is yours
the warmth is yours

All this time,
you've been the fire
but in that very moment,
you decided to love yourself,
and an aurora borealis is seen-
a phenomenon that is truly magnificent

You tried.....that is what counts.

My being betrays expectations
Conceived before my wake
That think me something small,
Delicate, like a gold-etched china plate
So they toss me to the ground
To hear me shatter, see me break
Maybe kick around the pieces
Into angry spiralled shapes

It’s to my aid that I was built to last
I’m stitched with strength at every seam
I care not to confine myself
To what I’ve been assumed to be
Me, I’ve found enchantment
Within most things the eye can see
And though I bleed emotion
There’s no weakness in these tears I weep

I’ll climb up to the mountaintops
To show you every song I know
My voice will travel miles
To places and pitches, high and low
For the world to see I’m larger than ever
Even if I haven’t grown
Even if I’m close to the ground
You will never reach the places that I roam

When eggshells become sand
and the tide just another reminder of the glass
being half empty, not full,
it is time to take a step back and reminisce on
the spring flowers blossoming from detritus.
