stars are held in a window
and sometimes the moon,

lopsided stacks of books,
knotty papers are strewn,

i like to rest on the boards,
day dream, scents of pine,

it's quite a lovely mess up,
still have space to dress up,

in a nook are some shelves,
i trained to hold dear photos,

so love to see in my wee loft,
poems, my cat, postcard art,

and my pane glass view I call,
full moon in garland of stars.
I am lost
in pages of books
I am curious
to know who they are
I am drowned
by the feelings they feel
I am swallowed
up in their world
I am enthralled
to fiction
To a make believe world
Where words make worlds

Soaking up their adventures
Craving for more
When the Tv stops in your head
When you turn to
The End
You want more
But why?
Because
Secretly
You wish
That fiction becomes reality
That great things can happen to you
You believe you can be
Special
So when you grow old
You have a story to tell
But this time
its not fiction
an old poem I wrote a few months ago

My lazy radar lets me down,
Sometimes I just look a clown.
They called me a lazy reader:
Well I think it was “reader”…

‘Fraid to say I’m very slow,
For learning that’s a deadly foe.
Marking books was very hard,
I was given a yellow card.

For every down, though, there’s an up,
Always a way to win The Cup.
I couldn’t skim, I had no choice,
But that’s what gave me my poetic Voice.

So if I’m slow to read your stuff,
Don’t forget I find it tough.
I’ll read your poem as soon as I can,
And if it’s good I’ll be your fan.

That Voice is crucial, at a price...
Everybody knows
Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic
as the Three "R's" you need
Without them
you'll go nowhere
and never will succeed

Writing...that's a W
and Arithmetic an A
so, who ever came up
With "Three "R's"
was having a bad day

Now, go and ask a cowboy
what the three "R's"
are to him
You'll get a different answer
I'll bet you
one to ten

Ropin', Ridin' and Rodeo
The cowboy's three R list
Reading, Writing, Arithmetic
the big three that I missed

But if they do not have the first three
They are not a cowboy
not a chance
they're just another townie
just another fancy pants

So, to be a proper cowboy
there's six "R's"
they must know
the first three
along with
ridin', ropin, and
rodeo

Once Upon A Time,
There was a little girl named Me,
Who believed in fairytales
I thought they were real,
and alive within me.

Once Upon A Time,
I read the greatest fairytale of them all— The Bible!
I believed that this was the best one yet,
So i lived it like I belonged.

Once Upon A Time,
My favorite character—God,
Wrote me a letter
It went like this

Dear naive little girl,
I am warning you,
I am warning you because
I am not as great as I seem
You know me as real,
But I am far from that
I lied to you
I lied about protecting you,
loving you,
being there for you
I scared you with sins,
Only to let you know that
Only I can save you,
I am bigger than you,
I am better than you,
And if you do not believe me to be real,
I will make your life a living hell

And then I stopped reading
I stopped listening
I stopped looking for God in the tree’s
I started looking for myself
Because all along I realized
God made my life Hell
This was all just a fairytale
And fairytales are not real to me anymore
books are our friends
they will never betray
or fade away
they will not leave
or walk away
they are here to stay

there's only one reason why
one should not like reading...

you can't be apart of this amazing, fictional world
that exists in your head when you're engulfed
in a book.

you're stuck here in a
MONOTONOUS
reality.

As a child I would willingly write, generally short stories about a superhero version of myself.  However, I was inspired to make the wrong choices.  Demons provided knowledge to sway me away from my first passions.  Reading and writing.  After meditating in my own thoughts, I have realised that what people see isn't the real me.  Is inspiration a negative feeling preventing people from displaying their true colours?

Reading and writing had only just commenced its slow arrival into my life.  This is one of my first pieces for at least a decade in which a teacher hasn't been glancing over my shoulder.  Anyway, let's get to the point.

Younger people normally see reading and writing as: lame, boring and uninteresting.  Even I hated it in school at some point in my life.  **** you literacy teacher.  Anyway, as writing is seen as "uncool" by other children.  I gave it up. Instead of writing, I tried adjusting to the trend of football.  I bought many packs of football stickers that I could.  It was the craze.  But it wasn't me.

When I think about it, there is a fine line between inspiration and trying to fit in.  Without reading between the lines, I just wanted to be seen as "cool" by my classmates.  But, you can see it as inspiration.  I was inspired by my classmates, I wanted to be like them.  Our brains have a system which gives us a desire to be popular.  Or maybe it's just me.

Inspiration will have had a negative affect on you at some point.  A basic, problematic topic is smokers.  Whoever becomes addicted to the cancer stick will give similar reasons for starting.  "It helps me cope with stress", the classic acronym "YOLO" and finally, "everybody else is doing it."  Once again we are faced with the fine line.

Throughout life, the human race has faced demons.  Famous artist Van Gogh faced an alcoholic demon throughout his career.  Smokers use the phrase, "everybody else is doing it."  At first glance, it may seem that they're doing it to fit in with popular groups.  Or do they think it looks "cool".  Have other people inspired them to do it?

The basic life process of growing up has allowed me to see that I have lost my routes.  That what my friends and family see me as is not the real me.  I have one thing to say to you to conclude.  Find yourself, lose yourself, remember yourself, be yourself.
