"Goodnight, I hope you sleep well"
That's something I always say
Do I ever mean it?
Do I genuinely want you to sleep well?
Or do I want you to dream bad things
To make you see he's no good for you
When I wish you well with him
Do I hope for the worst?
I honestly don't know anymore
Maybe I'm just selfish like the rest of the world

No one can tell me who to be
No one can say who I am
I created who you see today
I built my life with my own hands

No one can say they own me
No one can stake a claim
I refuse to act as society's slave
I will not know such shame

No one can ever hold me back
No one can quench my fire
I will simply add more fuel, you see
I will glow to my heart's desire

No one has burned more bridges than I
No one has pushed away so many
I was stupid to give them all a chance
I have made too many enemies

No one thought I could do it
No one believed it when I did
I wish to Hell they had some faith
I wish they trusted the words I said

No one tried to save me
No one saw me slip away
I lived a life of solitude
I pushed through so much pain

No one ever doubts me now
No one thinks me a weak essence
I proved every one of them wrong
I earned my independence

No one dares dictate my life
No one braves the ice cold waters
I, myself, and me stick together
I don't need any followers
Dear Dad
I know you have physical disabilities,
but you are the centre of my heart,
the love of my life,
so thankful to be your son.

I  am never ashamed of you,
because you are my perfect dad;
your heart is never disabled,
your love has had no divisions,
your mind is pure,
your words calm a raging foe,
and your smiles are infectious,

I will always be your son,
I love you Dad.

First person singular prohibited. In order
to be more crow.
War! war! war! war! war!

Then there's that lowland wetland bird
around the stunted red pines crying
Birdy, birdy, birdy, birdy.

Hear the redwing blackbird chirring
Her, her, her... she
as one might expect, Spring.

Words for birds
since they're inaccessible. Aim
binoculars left, right, up, down, missing every time.

At the piano recital
Aaron made the penguins run, run, run, not waddle,
from a hungry polar bear!

Everything passes, even a massacre,
but birds outlast cars
and words like chemical and holocaust.

Woodpecker climbs oak,
Connecticut.
Not one neighbor heard the knocking.

The voice of a pewee
whose nest has fallen out of the tree.
Oh my! Oh me!

What did the wood thrush sing
that summer evening
teaching its young thrush meanings?

Looking at you, I realise
perfection
does exist in this world

My person.

If joy were a person
It'd be you
Dear sister

If kindness were a person
It'd be you
Sweet friend

If peace were a person
It'd be you
Kind soul

If goodbye were a person
It'd be you
Old friend

If hopeless was a person
It'd be me
Cruel world

I'm in two minds,
One of love and one of hate,
She makes me so mad so angery yet I love her all the more,
She has her rules and god it's a teasing game,
The way she holds me,
The way she leads me astray,
Yet she's isn't the one I'm with,
But she melts my walls with one touch and one word.
