What happens to identity
When surrender is called?
The wrong side of history
The tiger that’s been mauled.

How do you bear the moniker
Defeated? Enemy?
Now living under their regime
Your choice is? “Happily”.

Wary of the kindnesses
That you rarely receive.
Your hand extends in friendship
but your heart says, “disbelieve”.

Someone else decided for you,
who your foes should be.
The axis tilted in the night
now you’re the “enemy”.

You gaze at your hated visage
and you scowl at the brazen one
who was simply caught living life,
you were no smoking gun!

You wish that you may find some hope
To tether you to life
To bring you back from bigotry, suffering and strife.

Your muted voice is quiet now
But one day you may try
To make sense of the whole **** mess
Or always wonder why.
This poem is about those who live in post war occupied countries. My particular focus was Allied occupation of Germany but it could relate to anywhere really....

Put my emotions in a glass jar,
closed the lid on a real tight.
Set it aside.

Take the next big best thing,
make myself occupied.
Thinking it can make me happy.

Now I can't get through to my emotions
Without having it exploding on me,
like fireworks on the 4th of July.

Your caesious eyes
have more
adventure
than your soul
could ever learn to
occupy.

When did you trade
happy days
for

haphazard

smiles?
Second poem!!! I'm trying to get used to this whole sharing my poetry thing, since I've been holding it back for years.

My mind is in overdrive
All my thoughts are amplified
I need a megaphone
I don't really know what for
But I feel if I scream,
it will make my thoughts real

I have a sweet melody
playing in my head
I probably should work
on my life instead
but words keep echoing in my mind
My brain is always occupied
What stays on your mind,
no matter what you’re doing,
no matter what has your time…
What stays on your mind?

There is always something that goes on in the mind
Sometimes something goes on at the back of mind
Sometimes something goes on in the mind with the present moment in time.
There is always something that goes on in the mind.

Engaged is the mind
Engaged in thoughts of own
Occupied with thoughts of own.

Examining the present and ascertaining the future remains a part of life, since there is always something that goes on in the mind.

Sometimes knowingly
Sometimes unknowingly
There is always something that goes on in the mind.

Whatever that something might be
One thing one must always remain sure of
One must always think positively
One must remain in a positive frame of mind irrespective of the past, present and even when it comes to dealing with an uncertain future.

There is always something that goes on in the mind, but then let that something be a positive thing in your life.

An empty bar - one table, two chairs,
Occupied.
A drink in front of both me and you.
Silence.
How difficult must conversation really be?
An exchange of inaudible outbursts.
You overexert, I over-assert.
How can two feel outcasts in a group of
two?
They always said that silence was silver.
I like to take a mouthful from the bourbon and coke
You follow suit
and take a sip from the bourbon,
you choke.
An acquired taste, I guess.
An empty bar – one table, two chairs,
Unoccupied.
