For all my efforts
Often I still find myself
Stuck in the between

Even if I lived
For eons in all the realms
I'd still stand right here

I sit and wait, awake
Close my eyes to no avail
Night loves company
Okay last one for the night. Hopefully I'll pass out soon

As I lay me down to sleep
in the quiet of the night
I loose these tears I'm meant to keep
into a pillow, soft and white

As I lay me down to bed
in satin sheets of yellow gold
thoughts of you will fill my head
and all the love we couldn't hold

As I lay me down to rest
wishing you were by my side
I think on how we did our best
but in the end were still denied

As I lay me down to dream
just as the darkness settles in
I pray our love will be redeemed
that we can find what might have been
This is something I wrote back in 2015 when my SO and I were considering separation and I lay in our bed at night all alone.

Some people find happiness by giving away their own. They make others happy and expect to be given happiness in return. It's not a bad thing, it is the most beautiful gesture someone can do. To know that you are someone who has been given someone else's happiness to hold onto forever and cherish with all your heart, is the best feeling in the world. But do not forget about the one who gave you their happiness. They are a little more hollow and they don't know how to fill it on their own.

sometimes, in highly inappropriate moments,
like when i am at church or driving or watching a movie with my sisters,
your hands ghost over me and my blood turns to fire again.
i can feel the little circles rubbed on my arm with a surprising tenderness,
i can feel legs twisted up with mine,
i can feel soft lips against my neck and a voracious appetite at my jawline.
goosebumps spread up my body as my toes curl and my face flushes,
and i remember all too well.
The best one night stand you've ever had
