Soldiers patrol Bethlehem now.

The Kaaba hosts no
circumambulating mustati.

The Ganges’ bathes
in its own sin and ash
releasing no Moksha.

The Vatican quarantines
even  its Cardinals as
The Pope holds mass
to an empty St. Peter’s Square.

In Chicago, a 7-year-old girl named Heaven,
will not die today, not become
the most expensive candy in the world,
as her mother watches her, the miracle of today,
walk all alone by herself to a closed sweet shop.

Sky!  Lift me gently up
as an infant bruised by life's measure
& forgive my Spirit for it aches
       by the fire
       by the brimstone
    of Life hard experienced
of Life unforgiven to the end
Sky!  Your graceful colors are brilliant
be regal by air rarer than Cherub-breath
be held by no earthly governance
breathe!  breathe!  life is the glorious
battle!  battle!  life is the gift for
                    all victors!

Trickling raindrops
         Falling teardrops Rising in thunder
     Shoulders begin to shudder
To the striking light that flies
To the silenced cries
                     A window tightly shut
An ever hollowing gut
          Now the curtains are drawn
For I'm just another lost swan
Lost another one of those fights
Lost to another one of those
                Rainy Nights
Lost in the rain, I ever so slowly begin to breakdown

Emptiness
echoes but does not return
the same lifeless message.
Only the stillness of the room reflects
such dreary gasps for color
and that still desire of the moth
longing to surpass its dull greys
for the wings of a fluttering butterfly
in its glory days.
this is from 3 yrs ago AND I NEVER POSTED IT HERE?
I thought I did
but nope, just on theprose.com only
I'm a fool, but here

Seeking happiness in the wrong places
Then wonder why I am not
Blame fate for most my problems
When I am chasing my tail in the same spot

Sit and watch the world spin circles
Wait for opportunities to drop into my lap
Neglect health in the process
Realize I'm about to snap

Ready to give up this quest
Staring at a looming distant goal
Contemplating if I am the only one
Emptied of happiness, a hollow soul
My happiness is never enough to stick around
