Coloured lights brighten
the shortest day’s dreary night.
A dazzling glare.
I have always loved the excess of light around the solstice. We make the darkest and longest night of the year one of the brightest by lighting up our homes and streets with colour and wreathes, reminding us that starting now every day will be a little longer and a little brighter. I was particularly stuck by how the lights reflected off the wet ground creating a kaleidoscope of icy colour.

today i worked with a thousand lines
these were not of track lanes
not of pencils
not of illicit substance
not of merchant queue
but code in which everything can be rewritten
laptop...soon i'll write a poem in only code

The final words deeply
Rooted well spirited from top
To the wishing well bottom
She writes-- on-- the-- top-line
  Real flower takes action
The Spring Mom affection
Dark- Shades She's the brightest

Star- Poppy make it snappy
Fire red Floppy disk
Movie flick favorite flower
Take a risk perfect pick
Your heart sunglasses got baked
With Moms baking flour
She couldn't see the sun
       Light years away
Words sound alike look at the what!

blue skies just pray we are rooted
     like a gifted flower
       That never dies
       Star Eyes** enter
The flowers frame mirror
   "Sunflower Face"
  *          *          *
Words sprout like

"Mr. and Misses"
The ceremony
Oh! Honey what's your point.....
Red so vibrant laughing Loretta
Crying operetta baby birth flower
 Rudolph running nose red
Homesick cough water spell
chamomile flower bed

Light up Holiday wed
  "Poinsettia" she's tough

Bloom-  make room
Show Biz flower "Cafe Vienna"
Curtain call sprinkle me
Sunflower voice heal me
Daisies lion- roar- free
The fresh-cut dandelion
Sunflower hats bow

"Kentucky Derby" I reckon
Flower words I beg your pardon
Did I ever promise you the rose garden?
Last curtain call divine sunflower
Sunflowers every year a new blooming curtain call grows and grows

All I want for Hanukkah is
for you to be happy.

All I want for Christmas is
for you to be loved.

All I want for Kwanzaa is
for you to be safe.

All I want for New Years is
for you to promise me
that you won't give up this year.
Happy Holidays :)

How marvelous it has been
to see you sprint and spin
around the tree
and past the Christmas bin.
To touch the ornaments
as we pry them from their cases,
and swipe the fallen pine needles
into many dark and hard-to-reach places.
So maniacal in your furry madness,
we're sure you're fueled by diesel.
That you'll never tire in your evil mission
to knock over our decorations, you sneaky weasel.
Endlessly you have flown
up and down the house.
Hiding tattered pieces of wrapping paper,
as silently as a Christmas mouse.
Each colorfully glittering
like the flags of a medieval fair.
You've decorated each and every corner,
showing us your touch of feline flair.
Almost instantaneous,
like the calm after a hurricane,
you crawl up to the Christmas tree
to slumber under the hanging candy canes.
The Christmas spirit it seems
has struck you too.
So, here is my present
from me to you.
Thank you for these precious moments,
my dear little friend,
and especially the love you have given
to help a man's heart mend.

Blazing thru November moons,
The twelfth month frolicked down;
Devouring vespers of the Halloween monsoons,
And rained fire to dim-lit towns.
We brewed gunpowder haze and caught thrill fever,
While we stripped our calendars bare;
We saw houses and streets collect the cinders,
To make verdant trees with flickering hairs.
There was an ember glowing beneath our beds,
That burned brighter with the days that came;
We hummed the tunes now etched in our heads,
And amused our kins now we only know by name.
We stuffed excitement in our pillows,
As we're dying to open our holiday loots;
Our happiness was still too shallow,
But our smiles lit up the kitchen soot.
The cold winds kept fanning the flames,
The one which fueled our childhood sun;
Until we stopped playing our parlor games,
And our feet grew too cold to run.
Holiday season is never the same when we get older.

There'll be a time
where we only speak on holidays.

Today, hearing about how you're doing
is like hearing birds chirping in the morning.
It's something that brings peace
to a world that is otherwise unpredictable.

We take it for-granted our easy talks;
the randomness of thoughts, ideas, and play
that will wither with time.

Some people wish they could be a kid again,
and it's for the very reason of what we have right now -
a relationship that allows us to be who we are;
young adults not stuck being too serious.

You're so busy and I know I'll be busy one day too.
You'll meet more people, wonderful people.
I'll get a full-time job, with a regular sleep schedule.

Talks that used to be the most important
will settle to be thoughts of distant memories -
memories to be remembered on holidays.
We all make friends, but during some point in life each one becomes an idea instead of a person.

De beste kerst is
kerstmis met rode wijn
en gerst en nat
en koud en sneeuw van goud dat,
dartelend, de lucht kartelend,
neer dwarrelt.

Smakelijk allemaal!

Dreams of fir trees
Candy canes
Dancing Christmas lights
Gingerbread houses
Mistletoe
And presents wrapped tight
Santa Claus with his sleigh and reindeer
Each merry day that passes brings Christmas more near
