it was a terrifying thing-
waking up in the middle
the facade of night still
shrouding my head from full
comprehension.
my body like a damp linen;
drugged, torn, held up to my face-
musty, the pangs and echos of
horrifyingly false dreams rush
all throughout my bloodstream;
straight to my face, big and bulky
i think i might explode soon-
yet before an intelligent thought, quickly
quickly! it's a memory of a person
supposedly next to me!
turning my face on its electronic pedestal
i meet the bedroom doorframe,
i meet both sides of my bed
in frantic panic, yet
it seems to me, so suddenly
in my single-sized bed-
my heart has yet again
fooled my pretentious little head

Spring girl eyes around,
To the winter *****’s chagrin;
Each turn brings heartburn!

Have you ever felt it?
That heat around your chest
That tension surrounding your heart
That feeling of Rage? Passion? Will?
Burning through every inch of your body
It could be either really

The Rage of life itself
That shines false light which fades to darkness
The Passion of the body
That hungers for the euphoric beauty of life
The Will of the mind
That builds its own path to reward

I see it as something collective
More than a state of mind or emotion
Something larger...

It’s the entirety of our being
Screaming, flaming, singing
For its place, in everything

You're swimming in my thoughts
In my heart too
Next thing I know it's a lake of lava
And suddenly I need a Zantac

singing the same old tunes
to my broken notes
and woes so few.

this time has come
lettered out in gold
made me sigh
and limbs too shook.

sit back down again.
you might find a small soul

I hope you choke on the names of our would be children
when it happens to cross into your thoughts
the few nights you don't sink into bed ****** out of your mind

I hope you ***** down the hallway thinking of me
I hope you never make it to the bathroom on time
I hope your stomach acid burns like a ripcord up your trachea

You told me no one had good ***** like I did
And he said it, too
Every last time I cheated on you

Just remember you betrayed me first
Told me to **** someone to put equality back into the universe

It's sad to say I did it out of spite
I could have been loyal

Instead we let each other become driftwood
burning blue and green
and floated away without a fight
