Tonight, she taught me the nature of healing summer rains
Whimsical descriptions of dancing in puddles, but
Metaphors only serve to drown her pain
Dry on the surface, swearing inside the drought sustains
But dew droplets in her eyes betray her restraint
The morning after, the storm remains

Little flower, bent at the stem
Oversaturated by the self-absorbed
Her waterlogged roots weighing her down, but
In fields of bloom they still look to you
See, the weak reach for the easily used green and blue tulip hues
But her yellow petals require strength to be pulled from the meadow
For A Dear Friend: Stronger then she knows.

My shadow is kind
blurry at times
and darker some nights
But she hums so sweet
and one time she said this

"Make a wish
on that shining star
It is pacing the sky
passing the time
endeared by your kind"

And I did try
for my cry to reach that high
of what I couldn't wish for
in one starless night

I looked up to the star bright
admired it shine with my eyes
open wide as I smiled
and I wished for that childish delight
to never leave my side
as it didn't that night
So that I could still fight
when the scorching sun would be high
and the feathers of my wings
would feel light
Make a wish on that shining star
Make it true, make it shine

i see you in my dreams
i see you in my visions
although you are not mine
i think about you all the time
no one compares to you
you make me happy
you bring me joy
you may not know it yet
i pray someday you will
time will come to pass
because i like you a lot
i really do
all i ever think about is you
i like you a lot

A little birdie told me
You'd wandered far away
Saw you out in San Francisco
Tracked your steps from train to train

She said you're finally wading in the water
And dancing in the streets
I told her she can come back home now
That news is all I need

There is happiness

running through my little hands --

my hands on the Earth.
