Every night, for all my life,
I have prayed the same prayer:

           "God is great,
              God is good,
               let us thank Him
                for our food.
"

A prayer so short
and childish,
but powerful
and beautiful.

Several people have asked me why
I still pray that very same prayer:

            "God is great,
              God is good,
               let us thank Him
                for our food.
"

A prayer so short
and childish,
but powerful
and beautiful.

The answer is, I can't give an answer,
I just know that:

            "God is great,
              God is good,
               let us thank Him
                for our food.
"

Amen.

Dig in.
An exceptionally weird poem I have been attempting to get off my chest for quite some time now. Have fun.

shared portions:

two straws in one
glass

a panini split in
(even) halves

one bowl of soup
twice as many spoons

smooth butter finely spread
over generous slices of bread
(still warm)

all begins
the moment one
of us says

"hi"

sometimes I write something you read today and take your whole life to process
not on purpose
I only do it trying to feed
your soul...your mind
im a great cook ,a generous cook
you don't have to ask for me to dish...really I don't mind
its up to you how much you eat
if you don't eat I don't mind
I know the aroma of the food will get you curious of how was the food
and when you do I don't mind
I know next time you'll eat....

You warmth slips past my eager lips as I take you in,
Your fall spice tickles my senses as I sigh, falling into the joy of our annual ceremony.

I am not alone in my adoration of you, but I do not grow jealous as others call your name,
Rather I find a sort of community in our shared appreciation,
Like a perfect song you were meant for the world, not one,
Yet each of us singular in the definition of our experience with you.

And so I wet my lips, again tasting the hint of a memory of your last kiss,  I prepare to brave that soft beacon hill of whipped cream topped with a seasoning so familiar yet unknown.
I really love PSL

My heart breaks

From all the wishes I’ve made

Looking up at the stars

That never came true.

My voice shakes

I feel my knees trembling

And my hands shaking

As I look at you.

Across the room,

You sit in a table

Circled by friends

You’ve known for three days.

Across the room,

I isolate myself

Listening to music

Stuck in a daze.

Such beautiful girls,

You’re surrounded by.

They really know how to bump and grind.

Such different worlds,

We’d never collide.

A girl like me is hard to find.
I’m always so alone, I’ll never find someone like you
You’ll never find someone like me.
I like to hide in the shadows. I like to be alone.
I think of you when I get lonely.
But you’ll always be just a thought, a dream, an idea.

Dead flowers in my morning oatmeal.
I struggle with letting go of the past.
These petals are hard to swallow.

green tea with honey
eggs accompanied by whole grain toast
Bukowski placed to the upper left of me
Mozart chirps a melody
that rings desperacy and hopefulness
it's been two days since I've been able
to stomach more than a glass of water
and the barely eaten food I've prepared
knaws and twists at my stomach
the front door is swung open
and has been since 6:15 a.m.
so that the freshly birthed fall breeze
plays pins and needles
over my bare skin
I pretend not to notice
try to continue reading
hope not to believe that the only thing
I can feel anymore
is the cold

If you want to end your life
Just think of all the pain and strife
Cause if everything has gone to hell
Maybe you should go as well

But before you reach the holy gate
Think of all the things you hate
The things you love that bring much joy
The smile on a girl or boy
The songs you love and make you dance
The fact that you look AMAZING in those pants
Movies TV and entertainment
Evil men held in containment
The bright sun and birds that sing
Think of every little thing

Can the good out-weigh the bad
The many things that make you sad
There's twice as much things worth of love
Fancy food and stars above

You can't help it, life is rough
And though you feel you've had enough
Put down the glass and try to smile
I promise it is worth your while
Though life has hit its skids
We're all just stupid little kids

So face your fears and be forgiving
Because I promise life is worth its living.
