the 31st of every month
is meant to give you
one more chance
to cease the moment
and enjoy every breath
before the cycle ends,

the 31st of every month,
is a time to finish your to do-list,
even to start writing one
and to prepare before the
calendar folds its pages again,

the 31st of every month,
is a reminder that you
don't have to stop counting
at 10, 20, or 30,

the 31st of every month,
is a good citizen,
because it gives
more than it takes,

just ask February where its
30th has gone,
and it will tell you
how it retired and
took off with
the 31st.

Once before, The commander said "as vanguard, you hold the line"
Since then I've been afraid to be anything less than my strongest
Show anything less than my bravest face
But every soldier's shift ends one day, and in that moment of vulnerability
Is it okay if I just for once revert to the self I wish to be?
Is it okay if I just once am allowed to cry? To show the feelings I hide so well?
But before you know it day comes again whether you slept or not
And it's time to put on the brave face once again, and hold the line.

the graceful butterfly flitted and fluttered
searching for the perfect blossom to take a stance
a locale, so perfect and flawless, that she could finally unwind
relax after hours, no days, of searching
finally, that bloom, with the exact effervescence she needed was there
right under her delicate wings
she was home....

Brian Hill - 2020 # 85
Have you found that perfect bloom?

What happened to those
beautiful days?

Even though I know the answer
but my heart keeps denying
that painful phase;
When the heart doesn't understand

I’d like to believe
that the moon
still loves me on
my darkest days

The days are coming
that will be daunting for all
hopelessness beckons.

At dawn
The doves hum,
The rivers run,
The mothers sing,
The roosters scream
We all continue on

Mid-day
The bees hum,
The children run,
The wind chimes sing,
The cicadas scream
We all continue on

Afternoon
The workers hum,
The engines run,
The radios sing,
The sirens scream,
We all continue on

Midnight
The clubs hum,
The late shifts run,
The crickets sing,
The concerts scream,
We all continue on

Forever
The world will hum,
The clocks will run,
The life will sing,
The death will scream,
We all continue on
