Just found you have passed
Tears in my eyes as I write.
*** ,Lou and bob too
Your  sounds raised me

You thou *** I would joke about
"not more slit your wrist music "
Forgive me *** I was a kid
Your melloncolly lyrics so fluid and honest
You are the godfather of my lyrical raising .
Fair well my friend
hallelujah
Wrote off the top of my head when I found out of *** passing inspired by my mum and dads hippy raising  one love
Before the light goes out
and the night comes in
before the Angels dance
before the dreams begin

I want to hear you one more time.
Sailors in the arcades
Jesus on the streets
news came in on Friday
and
everybody weeps.

Everything I own, I carry with me:
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
It has done me good because of the color of the wheat
But love is not a victory march

Larry, the man who terraformed Mars, has a scar over his left eye.
Maggie, his younger sister, could not make up her mind.
Her brother was a Star Man. She was left behind.
Maggie swam in the ocean
Larry paid a fine.

Maggie liked tequila
Larry was back on Earth.
He liked snorting space rocks
By the basement furnace hearth.

Larry got a parking ticket
Maggie passed out in the sand
She did not feel a single thing
When she was ****** there by a man.

The baby was coming in April and
Maggie went to the clinic
Larry thought about Venereal tides
While he was out having a picnic.

Larry, the man who terraformed Mars, has a scar over his left eye.
Maggie, his younger sister, could not make up her mind.
Her brother was a Star Man. She was left behind.
Maggie swam in the ocean
Larry paid a fine.

Maggie is now a single mother
In the house with a furnace hearth.

Larry never came back down
The last time he left Earth.

Lama Leonard
Sing me a song again,
Before your life is over
Before you leave the stage and dive
Down below the clover
Before you reap the seeds you sowed
The wild world over
Between the alphas and the omegas
In bawdry nights inside bodegas

Lama Leonard listen to
My song before you go
I've listened to yours since sixty eight
And now it's getting late
Ukulele days are numbered now
I  finally found my key
I'd like to know,  before I go,
You listened once to me

I have been listening to Leonard Cohen's music since 1968.  I used to live in his neighborhood in Montreal, and we crossed paths in the very early hours of the morning in a diner.  He seemed to be in worse shape than me which was quite an accomplishment in those days.  We both pursued Buddhist studies, and meditated for many years on different mountains, he in California, me in Scotland and Spain.  After monkhood he hooked up with an exotic Hawaiian jazz singer many years younger than him;  I hooked up with a Spanish jazz singer many years younger than me.  I think we are both on our own once again.  There have been many curious parallels in our lives.  I see him as a very special person, an accomplished and humble spiritual seeker.  He is 82 and his impending departure from our stage (probably before mine) sparked this poem a few years ago.

Take my hand guide me through this crowded room, dance me to the end of love. and I will lead you into this beautiful dance called us . Mr. Cohen told me the future is ******, but I am trying to live into now. See the crumbling obstacles and tear them down. I was falling and I felt your hand reach out, but that is old news now. Ill take you in my arms, and embrace what life is now.
He sold his stories on the shore
they listened
and they wanted more
and Cohen sang
his song of
Hallelujah.

They followed him
the tide came in
it swallowed them and
still those men
paid for the joy of
one more
Hallelujah.

I drank the verse
and tasted wine,
I met her then and
she was mine and
time stood still
upon the final
Hallelujah.

When we take our shots
we take a chance
some find hate, some
find some romance,
some
find the jewels that
give this life
a balance.

And at the end
what journeys then?
joy
the tide
the silent men that
give you one more
rousing
Hallelujah.

Fire to be the blame
left me to ashes of mistake.
Fire to be the blame
that burns inside my life.
Does it make sense?
But nevermind.
Nevermind.
I have an illustrious dream,
     want to be Leonard
          Cohen's gypsy wife,
he's kissing my lips on
    Boogie Street,
impetuously we dance
    to the end of love
       'til closing time
       midst his secret life,
he serenades me with
     I'm your man
         when we take Manhattan,
bewildered by his poetic beauty there
waiting for the miracle to happen,
a sip of wine, a cigarette
         in love we disappear,
here it is, you got me singing
        be that dog in heat,
I'll take this waltz and
   another please, cause
             everybody knows
     I hunger for your touch,
  his famous blue raincoat
and the dew on my thigh
goes a thousand kisses deep
in the cave at the tip of the lily
with its very own breath of brandy,
slipping into the masterpiece
             where Lenny is eternal
If you don't love Leonard Cohen's poetry and music, it probably won't make much sense.
