An incident prompted people to fight for justice
Then there are some asking,
"There's been acts of injustice before, why were you silent then?"

Because it's better to act late than never.

It's just not right for them to say that you didn't stand up that time so you must not now.
It takes courage to stand for what's right especially against those who have power.

I totally support all the peaceful protesters fighting for justice. We need change in the minds of all so that there can never be discrimination based on race, ***, creed, caste and religion ever again.

The Oldest Lie

The oldest lie we tell our children is that we are all equal.
We pretend. We lie. We digress from the truth to shield them from all evils.
But the truth is we dream of such a world where race, creed and colour do not define us.

We protect them from the facts of life and speak of the past, forgetting the present.
We praise MLK, Malcolm and Mandela as civil right heroes,
neglecting the bitter truth that they took the first steps on our long walk to freedom.

Enough is enough. Our children deserve better.
They need to know our struggle.
Only then can we dream of better things.

I feel compelled to post and speak
But my education feels too bleak
Yet blacks and whites and others too
See the harm the policemen do

I am white
But I'm not dumb
I see an action so blatantly wrong
The harm that the policemen have done

The people are out and the streets are loud
They will not rest until justice is found
One name fires up the nation
Yet the harm continues, little hesitation

There are good, but there are bad
People on every side of the issue are mad
But it's hard to deny the facts
Unlawfully taken lives can't be given back

Speak up for what is true and what is right
Even if you're scared since you are white
I know you aren't dumb
Help be the change that needs to come

Centuries have passed, people have fought,
Nothing is happening because the wrong teachings are taught.
Voices have spoken, and riots have been arranged,
But still – nothing has seemed to change.

Corruption is seen, through the law and through power,
People are still suffering, climbing the social tower.
We have grown together, all in the same range,
But still – nothing has seemed to change.

People are suffering, no different than they have before
Their dignity is broken, and their lives are at tore.
The brutality is still here, causing infinite pain,
But still – nothing has seemed to change.

The risk of walking outside is something people truly endure,
The actions of opposition are devilish and impure.
There have been millions fighting to end this derange,
But still – nothing has seemed to change.

The cruelty and beliefs of difference have left nothing but war,
We’re ignoring who people are at their core.
There are people begging for the oppressors to get tamed,
But still – nothing has seemed to change.

The inequality is further preventing justice,
How does authority expect to be trusted.
An everyday battle has formed to abolish the chains,
But still – nothing has seemed to change.

There needs to be unity, not among some, but all,
Together we stand, divided we fall,
Speak out, bring justice, fight together in one lane,
Because there is no more time to not see change.

Don't ask me if I'm okay
Because I am not
I'm lucky enough to breathe,
While so many cannot.

Black clouds rage nearby.
Concussive flashes thunder.
Milk and tears rain down.
Unrest abounds. Not much more than that needs to be said other than Black Lives Matter and support those in need.

Here I stand
Wondering when my mind
Was shaped by all these lies
That carried me this far

Here I stand
How did I get here?
It wasn’t my own feet
That carried me this far

But it’s my hand
Can reach out,
Its my voice,
Can speak up,
It’s my feet
That can stand

Here I stand
Prejudice in hand
Ready to let go
And walk into this fire

Here I stand
Humbly armed with love
Can you forgive us?
We’re walking into fire

Here I stand
Swathed in all your tears
Appalled by all these years
Let’s walk into the fire

Understand
I will never
Understand
I could never
Understand!
But I stand
...
with you

YOU WILL HEAR US 👂
YOU WILL SEE US👀
YOU WILL RESPECT US✊🏾
PERIOD.
I want change so my kids can live in peace, better than I am right now
Maybe if we stopped looking at countries
and changed out perspective
then we'd see that we're all from the same planet
But just live in different places
our little-big "towns"

Because the best thing about a colouring book
is all the colours
White, blue, black and yellow
And without a colour, the picture would not be complete

And the best thing about a rainbow
is not the treasure at the end
but the colours uniting when the war begins between the sun and the rain
and that's what makes all the difference

and it's our strength, but also our weakness
I went through a poetry block for a little, but these recent evets have helped me a lot and inspired me

Xenophobia and religious wars ain't over
Extremism is now changing into racial war,
Fair and lovely but not darkly and lovely
Can't believe the world is again witnessing;
A time of racial apartheid
Skin is skin either healthy or in bad condition,
What is skin tone?
Why even this type of distinction exists?
Class distinctions ain't enough!
Why debate is again started on skin colors?
Fair, ivory skin tones over dark and warm
Tell me having an excessive melanin is sin?
We live in a society where;
Dark ones are associated with brutality
Fair ones are linked with beauty
An irony is this people will fall for black color
But will not appreciate people with dark tone,
A question I want to ask from you all
Ain't you sense some injustice here, think!
