Simple string slips through, complicated fingertips.
Wishes, desires tied into the shape of, a single red balloon.
Thumbing a ride on a Sunday breeze,
Surfing its way over tops of rooted trees.

Winged aerialists delicately balanced on mirrored water,
The leavers dance, front row for a final show.

Doing what I can never find the courage to do,
Slip away, uncharted destination.
Through ragged linen flowing in the sky,
Past the saffron fireball,
Cautiously placed beyond the horizon.

You see him at a bar
And suddenly your hair
falls on your face.
You see him at a bar,
With another girl
And your heart starts to race.
You wonder how he replaced you
Like a red balloon
that escaped his fingers,
And floated over the buildings
And disappeared into the blue.

*You wonder if he actually ever loved you.
I find this pretty odd
lol sorry

Much too calloused,
I’ve become.
Throughout this endeavor
Obviously I must be strong.
Above most and
Only higher than some,
Despite attached strings
That drag me hastily along.
I must accept
What is to come:
The fall that is fleeting long.
Balloons can be people too..
