Sunday Jim
Tag Williams Apr 2011
Sunday, Jim would walk in the Park.
When he was young Mom and Dad would come too, but each
Sunday, Jim would walk in the Park.
Sometimes on Saturdays or Tuesdays they would go, but
Sunday, Jim would walk in the Park.
Sometimes through the rain,
sometimes through the snow,
sometimes through the fog, and
especially through the sunshine, each
Sunday, Jim would walk in the park.
When Jim was 12, his parents allowed Jim
to adopt a puppy from the Animal Shelter.
Jim named named the Puppy Al. Each
Sunday, Jim and Al would walk in the Park
Soon after Jim's parents stopped walking in the park
because Jim felt he was too old to walk with Mom and Dad . Each
Sunday, Jim and Al would walk in the Park and
Jim would think about his Mom and Dad and
carry them in his heart
Jim and Al got older and went off to College in Boston. Each
Sunday Jim and Al would walk in the Park.

One Sunday Jim met Sara in the Park, from then on each
Sunday, Jim, Al, Sara and Sara's dog Charlotte would walk in the Park.
Soon Jim and Sara graduated from College and found jobs and each
Sunday, Jim Al, Sara, and Charlotte would walk in the Park.
Soon Jim and Sara had a baby girl they named Emily, and each
Sunday, Jim, Al, Sara, Emily and Charlotte would walk in the Park.
But one year as Al got older he was unable to make the walk any more
and soon he passed away. But each
Sunday, Jim, Sara, Emily and Charlotte would walk in the park and carry the memories of Al and Mom and Dad in their hearts. And soon, Jim and Sara had another child that they named Bob. Each
Sunday, Jim, Sara, Emily, Charlotte and of course Bob would walk in the Park
And because dogs don't live as long as humans Charlotte too got older and and soon she too passed away. But each
Sunday, Jim, Sara, Emily and Bob would walk in the park
and carry the memories of Al, Charlotte Mom and Dad with them
in their hearts. And the years passed, Emily and Bob got older, but each
Sunday, Jim and Sara and sometimes Emily and Bob would walk in the park.

Then Emily left and went to College and soon after Bob did too, but each
Sunday, Jim and Sara would walk in the park and talk of Bob and Emily
and sometimes of Al and Charlotte and Jim's parents and Sara's parents."
Then Sara passed, Cancer, inoperable stage four, Still
Sunday, Jim would walk in the Park and think about Sara and Bob and Emily and and Al and Charlotte, some
Sunday's Jim would get a little tear, other Sunday's a little smile as he remembered the good times and the bad.

Rain falling on a mountain top
one drop at a time, dissolving,
changing, rearranging,
the shape of the world
and so we wear down continents.
one drop at a time.

Thoughts falling on a fertile mind
one idea at a time, dissolving,
changing, rearranging
the shape of the world,
and so we wear down prejudice.
one idea at a time.

Earth collides along a fault line
one inch at a time, building,
changing, rearranging,
the shape of the world
and so we build vast continents,
one inch at a time.

Compassion holds out hands of hope
one kindness at a time, building,
changing, rearranging,
the shape of the world
and so we build community,
one kindness at a time.

At The Zoo With Alyssa
Tag Williams Apr 2011
Walkin' talking gawking
the goats, giraffes, red panda
no **** tiger
exhibit like they promised
Alyssa in the OV
for a few days with her
Mom and Dad
My oldest Chris
and Sarah.
My grandaughter at our
first meeting
of course
adorable
even if a little frightened
of burly bear Grandpa

Cant say we bonded
but we blew kisses
and met
Aidan, Journey
and Cameryn
by strange coincidence
all my children
present at once
in our undersized home
lions, yes elephants yes
no tigers like they promised
for opening day

But bubbles
lifted by the wind to
great height
above the entrance
to pop
unceremoniously
to be noticed by only me
and Alyssa
at the zoo

A blank slate, nothing.
Can it exist?
Point to it please.
The best I can do is
make something
from something.

A blank piece of paper
a fold just there,
another just here
Became a swan.
Paper origami.

From nothing came something
But how I wonder?
Minds greater than mine
play with this puzzle.

A blank piece of nothing
a fold just there,
another just here
Became a universe
Stellar origami.

Anger Management
Tag Williams Apr 2011
I'm ******
The women I've loved
longer than almost anyone
tells me I'm not her brother
anymore
I let her down
somehow
expectations were not met
goals were not achieved
but there is something else
under
her
anger
a hurt I've done to her that
only shows
with a bit of wine
I know that hurt,
not acknowledged
by either
but there
nonetheless
can't undo the past
the amends can't be made
apologies won't suffice
but can we love each other
again?

this old perv
Tag Williams Apr 2011
poetry is not on my mind
young ladies, younger than my daughters
one in particular
sitting just across the table from
from this old perv
at the pretlow branch library
Well, I feel like one
today. A nice amount of cleavage
it's evolution
men were made to peek
but I feel greasy like an old hot dog
sitting in the sun roasting and frying
away
and there is this thing on a chain
just hanging there like the
***** for any old perv
like me to look at and try
to figure
out
what it is
Got it
it's an anchor
weighing me down
keeping me dead in the water
but it brightened up my day

I Hate Grass!
Tag Williams Aug 2011
Hey, Grass. What's your point?
No sheep, no cows, no dog.
I hate You, venomously
grow it
cut It
repeat, ad infinitum.
until the mower breaks
because it does, every year
even the **** Sears
fix it,
break it
grow it
cut it,
**** it.
Hurry, Autumn
**** wacker
useless *******
buy it
pawn it
grow it
cut it
**** it.
Blacktop,
the whole yard
teach your punk ***.
Grass.

not George, you know the other one....
no, definitely not Ringo
C'mon Tag you know this...
was married to Linda
and then that other *****...
He wrote "Michelle, my belle"
and yesterday, all my troubles seemed
so far away...
sont des mot qui vont tres bien ensemble
It's in there tag, don't blame it on the stroke
or the smokes
how can you not remember this...
tres bien ensemble...
If I can't remember him even for this
brief moment, did he even exist
in my solipsistic world....
now I need a place to hide away...
Oh crap...McCartney...
how do you forget McCartney
Paul...duh...

you're not ready
Tag Williams Apr 2011
Bukowki wrote
"if you have to read it
to your wife...
...or anybody at all
you're not ready"

I read it to my wife
she said
"O, that's so sad"

like a complete noob
I changed it
now everyone lives happily ever after
and it *****
O, Some will like it.
Wrap some pretty pictures around
the nicey-nice words and BAM
it's a children's book
But I'll know it *****
and so would Bukowski
he may have been an *******
but he knew ****
when he saw it

Circles
Tag Williams May 2011
Circles, they walk around in them
at the mall, at the bus stop
like a hybrid human/chicken
one winged cocked
in the air
cellphone tight against cranium
to block out the noise
of the other half dozen
hukens
doing the same
At times I will
hold my phone against cranium
to mingle with the flock
snippets of information
orbit my position
in diversity
"la perra me dijo que no mueva..."
"yeah man I got a lead on a job..."
"que el infierno que ella piensa que es ...
"it don't pay worth a crap
"and it's in Richmond..."
"She don't tell me not to move..."
and so it goes

melancholy
Tag Williams May 2011
we outlive our animals
most of the time
our friend
our family member
11 years last week
can't rise on her own
today lies quietly
in the back yard
watching
for squirrels
chasing them
in her imagination
as she would
when younger and able
not many days left now
while we with the intelligence
and experience
undecided
to keep her
just one more day
or let her go now
Sam, we will miss you

Mother's Day 2011
Tag Williams May 2011
I count seven
rosebuds of pink and purple hue
on the plant I bought for Mother's Day
two years ago
The sun is shining after a morning of rain
we make plans for dinner. but the house
so full just last month is empty now, and silent
except for the snip of scissors as Shari cuts
the cloth for a new creation, and the scritch
of my pen on paper as I write this. The robin
out front sings mourning for it's young one
fallen from the nest, as ours have done
perhaps I need a puppy
not to replace, but for company
now that Samoa my old cookie
is no longer there, right here, where
I can reach out my left hand
to feel her presence, for my comfort
Ahh! There it is just that right spot where
the itch lives waiting for my scratch.

Light it up Blue
Tag Williams Apr 2013
Light it up Blue,
not just for the kids,
though one in eighty eight,
should be hard to ignore,
Light it up Blue,
for all that they do,
the teachers, the doctors,
the therapist and you
Yes parents, light it up Blue
Grandma and Grandpa,
sisters and brothers,
All the good friends and
the community too.
So, Light it up Blue,
For all that they do
Shine a light on Autism,
let it burn bright,
Light it up Blue,
There is still much to do.
Thanks to Laura Schumaker for inspiration.

A Rough Night
Tag Williams Jul 2010
Calling all my angels,
all my supernatural friends.
cuz, I lost my ******* car keys, again.
I probably should quit drinkin' until 2am
but you know when I get going
it's a little hard to end,
but if you help me find them,
I'll get down on my knees and
swear I'll never drink again.
I'm calling all my angels,
all my supernatural friends.
I really hate to bother you
with such a trivial pursuit
but, the car keys still elude me
and I've looked high and low.
I've checked my laundry basket
and went through all my clothes
stuck my hand inside the sofa
found a a dollar fifty seven
and an old remote control
'oh so that's where it went'
Now I'm calling all my angels,
all my supernatural friends
just to give my thanks for
leavin' them under the toilet,
When was I in there?

So has anybody seen my wallet?

Just off highway 80
I throw up my  boy scout
puptent and zipper myself in tight.
mosquitoes are out in force this evening
I try to hide inside my bedroll but
it's too warm to lie playing dead,
hoping not to get bit by the blood *******
little monsters, reminds me of tax time.

Some good poem
Tag Williams Apr 2011
I was going to share a poem
today written by a famous poet
with brilliant use of language
great rhyme and rhythm,
funnier than a trunk full of elephants
wiser than a milliion monkeys
and the word phizzog no where to
be found.
But I left the book containing
this prize winner at home
sitting on my bed open to page 77
now that I'm on the internet
at the pretlow branch library
I can't remember the poet,
the poem, just a page number
and Garrison Keillor
must have been some good poem

from
here to there
or
there to here
sounds like Dr Seuss
theres's a man who knew
his way around a rhyme
even if he has to make up the word.
I don't really care about the rhyme
life seldom rhymes and you have to make
it up most of the time
time
somewhat like a river
say the one Tina sang about
sometimes easy
sometimes rough
I sit at the bus stop
which has been tagged
though not by me
I muse about life
sometimes rough
sometimes easy
then I'm rollin' yeah
on the bus
from here to there
or there to here
and from here or there
to anywhere
And I'm thinking, bout being 16
and Tina and her legs
and about Ike
though not much
and Dr Seuss
