I passed by a lea while
walking in the prairie
grassy meadows sprinted
towards green horizons

bumpy hills
and rocky crags
clothed the verdant meadow
willows and gum trees
shaded the countryside

She was like an oasis
I fell in love with the lea
with her alluring grassy hair
and fertile aura

I sat down in her *****
and curled up in her supple
valley

Smooth sunlight trickled down
on us
watering the lea in a dandelion glow

The scent of apple cinnamon
and radiata pine wafted towards
me spicing the air with the lightness
and beauty of a butterly’s wingbeat

an ineffable sigh
escaped from secret chambers
of my heart
and leaped into the romantic air as
I wedded this lea
under the turquoise sky
with the sunlit trees
as witness

Mariachi tunes trumpet into the air
harmonized by guitar chords
dipping and dashing
on the day of the dead
Dia de todos los santos

A young rising tenor
stridles up
and yodels
a valiant rooster crow!
fingers crawl on guitar strings
as he opens his mouth
singing in a soft graceful voice
“Remember me”

lying horizontal in a still gloaming night
my thoughts
twirl, leap, and skip
like a ballerina
towards your face

you are an oriental lantern and my fireflies have been burnt into charred crisps by your jet almond eyes

i see your
dainty lips the color
of a rosy lavender sunset
melting into a peach dimple
my imagination slinks into
that fruity curve tasting your
taffy simper

swimming in the unconscious
ocean, REM tides tug me
to your sterling laughter
and drown me in your ebony hair splashing
down onto slim malty shoulders

My swan,
Your beauty leaves me stranded
on an island
breathless and drowning
I lovingly collected every second of it
in glass jars
and sent them floating on
rhyming tides to shore
hoping you would find it

i peel off strips of zebra leather
each strip
reveals the creamy vanilla
skin
underneath

seams slowly unravel
elegant stitching
falls away
in silky frays

until all that is left
is your steaming
hot latté breath

walking in my garden
a budding blossom captured my sight
she had
rosy lavender petals
and glabrous leaves
parted enough to see
a dripping stamen
i stroked the smooth bulb
fingertips playing at the slit
then slipping in
to dip in honey pollen

morning mist swirled around
my wet fingers
as i lifted this raw
bud to my lips
and licked her
citrus nectar
