What is home?
but a safe haven for the heart
comfortable
at peace
a breeze after the summer sun went to sleep
a feeling I had forgotten for years
regrown from my own strength

Home I thought

Was in me all along.
Now you're staring at me
Eyes wide as ****
Telling me the way she loved
I couldn't even touch
You even took me to the spot where we first met
Spilling these things
So I'm confused
Heart all bruised
And yo did you forget?
It's our 4 year anniversary too
Tears streaming down my cheeks
As you spit her name
And I just wanna set those words on fire
With you in them flames
Like how you waste years of my life
And even when we was great
You slept with *******
In the same bed
I'd rub your head
Supporting all your dreams
Despite all the **** your father used to scream
I was there for you
But that was never enough for you
How she told you not to buy me that ring
Because low key
She was tryna steal you from me
Guess who getting played
You can take a man
But he ain't ever gonna change
Now she dealing with his infidelity
And I'm still thinking of you
Like how he move on
Like we weren't first loves
But all you want is some *** to slide into
**** shoulda slashed them tires
Flew my *** down south
Fought her too
And that's the **** that sits on my brain
Wanna know why I don't trust men these days
It's all because of you
The distorted **** you used to do
But pretty boys always get a free pass
To do what **** ****** do
And that was you
How you the exact replica of your daddy
Never content with just one
Yet I look for you in them
Setting myself up for another you again
And I'm bitter
You are a woman
who sleeps under sheets
Not meant to caress your body

dancing beneath the moonlight
interlocked in hands
with a man
who comes home
to someone elses voice
singing
“darling I missed you”

yet you crave loyal love
when the only affection you ever sought
belonged to another woman’s heart

feeling no remorse
until the man you love
hides his admiration
for someone else’s touch
Her
She is beautiful
Her mind elegantly made
The universe unfolds
With words
Leaving her lips
Like sweet liquor
I wish to taste
A devils move
A taboo view
I care nothing for
A lust
A feeling
Hidden behind doors
Left locked and untouched
Her holding the key
At her fingertips
Of which
I wished grazed upon me
Like piano keys
Yearning
We keep silent
As to not cause attention
Although we seek attention within our eyes
Across crowded rooms
Simply never to collide
A forbidden fruit
I will never get to taste
Yet she never leaves my mind
In distance
He caressed her face
Sang her lullabies
That rocked her to sleep
he smiled so brightly
you would’ve thought
it was her all this time
soon
he would come home
disguising his love for her
as his hatred for me
He was always warm
Like his coffee colored skin
His smiled hugged you
Brought you into submission
Until your bones wrapped under his
I'd play with the outlines of his anatomy
The way his muscles protruded
And relaxed when my fingers traced his
His laugh echoed like violins
Symphonies playing wildly in my ears
And when I'd undress
He'd always stare
Singing how he won a master piece
That was only his
And no one else's to share
The summer heat burned us
Yet only the summer knew
The conversations that filled that room
He held a scar on his chest
I'd kiss it everyday to remind him how beautiful pain is.
The way his hair curled
And felt like silk when I'd run through it
The way I'd look down and kiss him
The world stopped
But so did the day he left
And like a VCR
I hit replay
A memory so vivid
Yet fading each and everyday
Do not be a prisoner of anger
held captive with the chains of hate
bound with the idea of isolation
stuck in a hole of desperation.
This burden is only a weight
and once released
will set you free
with wings so beautiful
you’d never believe you were ever so meek
