SLM Aug 2013
A week of watching
Time slip through my fingers
These days spent fighting
Acceptance like never before

As my heart digs its heels
Into the ground I leave behind
SLM Aug 2013
the white moon lingers
in the pale blue morning sky
paper thin or thinner
like a piece of cloud torn off

there is only this;
the wind, slightly cold
the sun, slightly warmer

and the promise of something
we have yet to define
SLM Jul 2013
there are some looks
words
silence

a nervous gathering of belongings
a discrete sense of alarm
so subtle, only subconsciously detected

a follow-up question
(do you think I'm stupid?)
an answer, as simple
as it is honest
(no)

the silent threat
of a door being shut

and the end to a story
never written
we all have stories untold
our very own
reasons not to trust
SLM Jul 2013
to rest
cry
read a book and
close a door
To leaving things behind
And to a quiet day,
beautiful in its simplicity
SLM Jul 2013
The frost in my bones
Nearly melted
At one point
10 word Wednesday thing. In the honor of someone neat.
SLM Jun 2013
Your drunken eyes
Are attractive as ever

We exchange looks
Then exchange laughs

One recognizing
Where we have been

The other realizing
We will never return
SLM Jun 2013
from climbing stairs that crumble
and saving babies
suffocating in cellophane
to a sink filled with blood
and a never-ending neck wound
I awake to a greyish day
that brings travel
and hopefully relief
