it was at that moment
that i realized
hearing you laugh
was the only thing i truly lived for
 Aug 2020 rose
jackie
smoking sand
and drinking the view of treacherous waves
nails aflame
interlaced in panic
mixed up love
their future entangled together with a tragedy

i may have despised
for the longest time
that she was your sun

but you’re my moon

and i guess what
i’m trying to say is—

every one of my nights
would be darker
without her light
all over you
i wouldn’t have ryan
if ryan didn’t have courtney

she’s a hot and necessary evil
for my hot and brilliant
best friend
I smoked to fill my lungs
to **** the flowers that grew there
the ones you planted last december

love, but before
 Jul 2020 rose
Erin
I used to go
swallowing matches
filling up on lightbulbs,
light lunches

second degree burns
through my throat, I
coughed up blood,
splintered glass, ash

but the moths in my stomach,
they loved it, you see,
flitted around just for a glimpse,
a tiny ray,
until
blood-soaked wings
stopped
sinking insects
dropped

you may never have asked
to be my poem

but i never asked
to be a poet
there is a lot of guilt
associated with
writing love poems
for a man who
doesn't want your love...
but you don't know
how to stop...
because your heart beats
in iambic pentameter
