I can see people
Running to escape the rain
Outside my window
Their umbrellas held
High above their heads
And I wonder once again
“Don’t they like the rain?”

Raindrops splashed onto my windowpane
And all that can be seen are blurred streetlights

I blew some bubbles into the air
And immediately my thoughts flew to you

On rainy nights
I fall asleep to the
Sound of raindrops

I pushed my tiny paper boats
Across the shallow water
Over to you

Some people say
They are scared of thunder
But I just see it as a drumbeat
Which keeps my feet
Tapping to the rhythm

The sweet summer breezes
Bring the scent of rain
In to my home
Through the open windows

A person can
Be smiling on the
Outside and
Crying on the inside
So be nice
To everyone
You meet
Whether they deserve
It or not
You never know
What a hard life
They could be
Going through at home

When I write my poetry
I curl up on the couch
With a cup of hot coffee
And my computer
Upon my lap

I’m sitting here
Watching the droplets
Of water fall from
The kitchen sink’s faucet
Dripping and dripping
In perfect beads of liquid

What is love to you?
Love has been my death

I watched in silence
As the flames flickered
On the candle’s wick
Dripping hot melting wax*

I am lonely
And it’s all because
I am waiting for you

The closer I get to my destination
The further away it all seems
The more I reach out for reality
The deeper I fall into my dreams

My dreams are like grains of sand
They blow away on the breeze
My heart is broken in shattered pieces
My happiness all too quickly leaves

But then my dreams run into you
A single dune on my life's beach
Where they pile up in wonder
Love just within reach

I embrace the love freely given
Into the sky I release my pain
My dreams finally come true
Showering blessings with falling rain

I’m on fire
And I can feel
The flames lapping
On my skin
Can you help me?

When I wipe at my inked words
Before the gel ink has dried
My words bleed and smudge
Onto the college ruled paper
Just like my heart does inside

It was raining that day
And we ran to take shelter
Inside the cozy walls
Of our favorite coffee shop
Our jackets were wet
But we didn’t care
We would stay here
Until the storm passed
We ordered a cup of coffee
For both of us
Along with some cookies
And we waited together
Until the thunderstorm had passed
Then we headed for home

With a box of colored chalk
Sitting by my side
And I wrote these words
With a piece of red chalk
It stated “I love you…always”
But when the rain fell
Later on that very day
It smudged those pretty words
I had written to you in chalk

You took white paper
And drew the shape of my heart
Then colored them in
With black and red crayons

You took black construction paper
And shaped the pattern of my heart

It’s raining hard today
And I am dancing with the rain
Swaying to the drumbeat of thunder
It’s raining so very hard today
And I have welcomed the storm
With arms outstretched

Sometimes I feel scared
Of everyone and everything
And that goes for you as well

You must think I am stupid
But quite honestly
I don’t care what you think anymore
When you left without saying goodbye
That was then end of it…
I told myself that I would have
Nothing more to do with you
And that is a promise I have not broken

I wish I could ignore
The pain I feel inside
But it gnaws at me
And I cannot ignore it
No matter what
It is most uncomfortable

Breaking at the seams
Leaving me feeling helpless
I do not know what to do

And it is at times like these
When I must turn to God for help
He is my only Friend during
These difficult and trying times

And sweet dreams
You are clearly unaware
That it takes me a long time to sleep
And that when I do sleep my dreams
Automatically become nightmares

In awe at the beauty of nature
All around me
Thanking God for it all

Yesterday I wrote a note
On a tiny piece of white paper
It read this: ‘I love you’
Then I went outside
And pinned it with a clothespin
On the clothesline

The wind blew my hair
Turned my umbrella inside out
And sent me falling to my knees
The raindrops splashed onto my face
And distant thunder rumbled angrily
Yet I picked myself up and continued walking
In the meadow in the beautiful rain

Why did you leave me?
Why did you break my heart?
Why did you hurt me when I loved you?
Why won’t you ever return?

You colored my heart
And trapped it in a mason jar
To shine with the summer fireflies

There are new fresh wounds
On my broken heart

The scent of rain healed
The wounds inside my heart
I took my shoes off and walked
In the tall green grass
While a few raindrops
Pitter-pattered on my umbrella
And dripped onto my yellow raincoat
By and by I started dancing in the rain
Releasing my pain and sending it flying
To meet the grey clouds in the sky
