I can look for those that need a friend
Those who need attention
Those who need someone to talk to
Those who need someone tot play with
Those who need someone to understand how they feel
Those who need a pal

I look for those
Who need someone to share their feelings with
Those who need someone to share their interests
Those who want to be sociable
But are shy

I can look for those
Who need a rescue
Those who need a companion
Those who need a friend

Those who are terrified
Those who are petrified
Those who are terrorized
Those who need a friend

Those who want to frolic
Those who want to dance
Those who are frowning
Those who need a friend

I will look for those in pain
Those that wish to rise again
Those that only want to be heard
Ignored by most and called absurd
Those who feel lost alone picked on and baited
Those who are
Those who wear a mask to hide their pain
Those who are stepped on for others gain
Those that are pushed down and can't get back up
Those who are feeling put down derived and stuck
Those who are on the brink of defeat
Who need people like me to get them back on their feet
Those who want to be able to follow their dreams
Those who have opportunity and potential that's bursting at the seams
But are depressed and told that they won't succeed
Those who retreat from life into themselves
Those that believe that the world would be better without
Them there to burden the place and consider themselves a waste of space
Those who need to helped from hurting themselves
And believe that the life their living is on the plains of hell
Those who need a friend
A friend to help
a friend to confide
a friend to that will stay by their side
Those who need to see that the world shouldn't be a place of torment and terror
But a place they are needed and have those that care
Those that want a place where love fills the air
Where every one has time to spare to help a person in need
A place left untouched by pride and greed

Those that want to live their life
Free from those who cause them sorrow and strife
Those that are pushed over the edge into a pit of grief
And wait for someone to come and give them relief
Those who are kicked and beaten
Those who are left in the street and
Wait for people like me to show them that they have more to be that just trash that people like we just throw away and leave it there cuz I'm am here to share that you that there are  those people out there
Those that want to stand above the crowd
Those that want to shout out loud

I.can make a difference
Something lost now found
something drafted now finished

I lay in my bed with my pillows and blankets wrapped around me like a cocoon, the heater keeping the air at a warm-enough 66 degrees as this roof sits over my head and the walls circle around me keeping the snow out, and I say 'When is it my time?'. I lay in my bed with my light on and it illuminates the shadows and I see just outside my door, the kitchen, with a fridge full to the brim with food and drink and running water in the sink and an oven to cook out all the bacteria from my food so that I can eat, and I say 'When is it my time?'. I lay in my bed and outside my window I see a car, my link to the outside world, this pristine-filled with gas-driving machine that takes me to work and school so I can live my dream, and I say, 'When is it my time'?. I lay in my bed, and I forget for a moment, about every other living person out there, those that I know and those that I don't. Those without homes. Those without stoves, those without soles in their shoes. Those like me and those like you.

Those who were given a chance, those who were given a smack when they messed up daddy's dinner that they didn't even know how to make. Those who take from the stores what they need but can't afford cause they ain't had a job in a year cause no one wants a ***** off the street like you. Those who take from the poor. Those who are pumping your gas cause they couldn't pass a standardized test or make it to class. Those without a chance, and those without a choice or a voice of their own, who are given drugs and guns, and are told that 'man, if you wanna make it out here, you're gonna have to learn to ****'. Those who cry at night, cause even if they try with all their might, they're still given such a fright by their spouse that they can't just walk out. Those that are old. Those that are told 'you'll be doing a great service to your country son', and then they're given a gun and taught to **** against their will and have to come home ill cause they don't understand what they have done. Those with sons and daughters that they can't feed, that they beat cause 'that's what my daddy used to do to me, you see?'. Those with feet that aren't covered in shoes. Those who lose, and those with ***** filling the bottles they clutch in their hand cause they can’t stand the cold no more and the juice keeps them a little warm as the snow comes down on the bench where they’ll be sleeping tonight. Those who die, cause they were so desperate to fly away from here that they put a little too much in the needle this time. Those who lie just to try and get by. Those who were seeking affection but were lacking direction and therefore were lacking protection and then had those three choices and had to make a selection. Those who were striving for perfection but instead were driven to intravenous injection and every morning have to watch their own resurrection cause they’re sure a part of them died the night before. Those who are sore when they walk in the door after working 13 hours and they still have to cook dinner and put the kids to bed and there’s still that pile of laundry. Those who’ll smile cause they hope that things will be better, just in a little while. Those that are tired, and those who are trying. Those who are living. Those who are dying.

I lay in my bed and I forget about them, I ignore them till they go away and I say, as I look at my stuff and decide it's not enough and I say, with this dollar in my pocket and plastic in my wallet and I say, as I lay in my warm bed with no ache in my head and I say, 'When is it my time to finally have something go right?'.
This piece was written as a spoken-word poem, and has been presented so far in that fashion. Although I do enjoy it better when it's presented as spoken-word, when read I believe the message is still put across well. The poem was inspired by the novel "Last Exit to Brooklyn" by Hubert Selby Jr., as well as conversations involving privilege and oppression through a feminist lens. Some of the topics discussed in the piece can be difficult to read for some individuals.

There are those that love and those that lust,
Those that stay calm and those that combust,
Those that hate change and those that adjust,
Those that spread charm and those that disgust,
Those that can resist and those that rust,
Those that trek on and those that bite dust,
Those that doubt and those that can entrust,
Those kept quiet and those that discuss,
Those kept weak and those that are robust,
Those with a vocab and those who cuss,
Those off course and those who readjust,
Those of the bold and those that just blush,
Those who rest and those who make a fuss,
Those who speak soft and those who are shushed,
Those not denied and those who are crushed,
Those that don't care and those that ask, "What?".
All started with me thinking about the differences between love and lust and how I wish that I could feel lust like everyone else. Instead, I feel as if I feel love towards someone who doesn't feel the love back. It's only been a few months, but this absence of love has drawn out these few months into what feels like years. She says that she doesn't know what it feels like to love, because she has only felt lust. I wish I could show her... but instead... I decide not to feel...

for Those who eat ramen by choice, or not.*

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by disillusionment,
lacking egotistical sold, dragging themselves through the hip streets at dawn
looking for a socially self-aggrandizing fix.
Poets, as they sit in desks and discuss discourse
about discourse about discourse about discourse,
who fear that thinking itself was buried with Vonnegut,
who are lost in forests of brick walls,
inviting, because they block the wind of dying fall,
who swim in cesspools filled with academic sewage, yearning for freedom,
for truth, as they always have,
mining their minds for images, and searching for words to describe
-a reality which is virtual at its core and each act, another chore./
-a scene of life which reflects all that is poignant and sacred.
Poets seek musicians while musicians seek poets.
and the dog chases its tail, endlessly
and the dog chases its tail, endlessly
and the dog chases its tail, endlessly

These poets who search aimlessly for the feeling of feeling,
who are overwhelmed with meaning to the point where meaning
has no meaning in itself.
Who claim this poem as their own and continuously write themselves into it.
It is those who suffer in truth that live the poetic.
Those who sit in front of space heaters eating peanut butter sandwiches in winter,
who sweat unknowingly in summer, comforted in each’s odor.
Those who open Macbooks while squatting in empty flats.
Signing up, logging in and zoning out, forever disengaged.
Those who type prophecy on keypads and let keyboards gather dust-
stratification, signs of long nights spent in century-old homes still not renovated,
ceilings sinking at the sides while those above pogo to punk rock long dead,
or grind genitals to old soul, simulating all that is sensual.
Those who play archaeologist to their own layers of makeup, grimed on the sink.
Those who share their food with the roaches and the mooches who all have keys,
who use the books as shelves to hold ceramic mugs, stained with a single drip-drop,
who, with arms crossed, watch bands in basements play noise.
Those who replaced their nu-metal records with folk but kept the unkempt beards.
Those who drink stale beer on stranger’s rooftops.
Those who live with bags under eyes, themselves asleep, lacking a body,
sleeping naked together to stay warm,
sleeping naked together to stay sane,
sleeping naked together to stay touched.

Those who leave coffee in unplugged automatic pots, decaying rapidly.
Those who eat pizza for breakfast, cold or microwaved, as an act of ultimate indulgence.
Those who prance about in un-matching socks
from hardwood floors to vinyl floors to tile floors, all under the same popcorn ceiling,
dancing to the sound of rhythmic silence.
Those who fight with lovers about acts, but never once mention the act of love itself.
Those who don flannel plaid in springtime color, constructing Williamsburg,
who consider gentrification a new form of landed gentry,
who live in poverty as if it were a novelty,
capitalist martyrs sacrificing employment to hide being non-hirable,
who shop in online surplus department stores for unique vintage.
Those who, who, who hoot like the owls framed on their walls, eyes wide but beaks small.
Those who are oppressed by nonexistent kings ruling in imaginary suits.
Those who crave something new, not tired-as the form of this very poem-
something which is not-yet auto-tuned.
Those who, faux-hawked and shredded, rock and bop to Bowie doing Lou
on Sunday Morning from Station to Station shooting ******,
who walk swiftly with denim skin on their legs and refuse socks.
Those who, in their rightest mind, are the wrongest-minded.
Those who can reject privilege only because they are privileged,
who, in their uniform whiteness, denounce racism,
who, in their uniform straightness, claim immune to homophobia
who, with their ***** ***** in a row, claim to be feminists.

And those who search for revolution in a time when rebellion is conformity.
Listening to the  pounding sound of blog-protesters typing n o w.
who, in claiming to accept, don’t accept the unaccepting,
who got veggies tattooed on their sides while snapping bacon in their teeth,
who ironically infiltrated asylums and performed madness until the shocks came
and they were maddened, for good, eaten alive by volts resounding
ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching.
Who sleep naked together to be together but end up being alone,
exchanges from lips that move in pretentious drone,
and the dog chases its tail, endlessly.
When the abnormal is normal and the whole structure is inverted and
heaven is here and flames under the soil are no longer hell burning for soles of the
Converse, Adidas, and Nike sneakers on the bicycle pedals of poets who ride at night,
listening to the sound of owls that question:

During those times, I want to be there.

Those times when you're happy, smiling and laughing.
Those times when you're sad, tears you try to hide.
Those times when you're with your friends, altogether chatting.
Those times when you want to be alone, thinking of way to put your problems aside.

Those times when your singing, calms the nerves of those who hear.
Those times when your writing your thoughts, words compliment you so purely.
Those times when you when you play guitar, notes are heard crystal clear.
Those times when you play ukulele, your voice accompanies it so cutely.

Those times when you play piano, grace fuels your fingers.
Those times when emotions control you, emotions that cloud your judgement.
Those times when you're aloof, emotion that lingers often lingers.
Those times when emotions overcome you, emotions that needs to vent.

Those times when tears fall because of happiness, I'll wipe it with care.
Those times when tears fall because of sadness, I'll wipe it with solace.
Those times when others try to hurt you, those who actually do, beware.
Those times when you only need a hug, let me be the one to embrace.

Those times when you're broken, damage will become undone.
Those times when you need someone, let me be the one to be there.
Those times when you want someone to love. let me be the one.
But during those times, during those times someone else is there.
I really wish I was someone else.

Those eyes, those eyes…
Ne plus ultra …
I just knew that I'd seen them before.

Those eyes, those eyes …
stopped my mind in it's tracks … like a ship that had ran ashore.

Those eyes, those eyes …
Sui generis …
Innocent, soothing, sublime.

Those eyes, those eyes …
They startled me … that moment they first gazed into mine.

Those eyes, those eyes…
Nonpareil …
throughout thee entire world.

Those eyes, those eyes …
like the moon so bright … or a magnificent flag unfurled.

Those eyes, those eyes …
Suaviter et dulce …
The eyes of a timeless friend.

Those eyes, those eyes …
they will find my soul … oh yes, yet again.

Those eyes, those eyes …
Coelo missus …
as I'm sure that thee angels chose.

Those eyes, those eyes …
sadly missed these days … except when mine are closed.

Those eyes … they shimmer …
just as my beloved Gulf in the summertime … a brilliant, beautiful green.

Those eyes… adorned with orange flecks …
like sapphires, adrift in those waves … are truly a site to be seen.
This piece composed itself over a 7 year span and came to fruition in October-November of 2017. Trying to write about someones eyes without sounding romantic/mushy is an uphill battle indeed. Try it, I DARE you!
Ok, here is your Latin lesson for today:

Say what you will about Latin. If I had written this using the English translations instead of the Latin, it would have NEVER been as good.

Those of glory
and those within light
Those of moonshine
and those out of sight
Those with memories
and those with none
Those who hide
and those who fear what's done

Those who cry
and those who weep
Those who break hearts
and those who sleep
Those that lie
and those of truth
Those who break
and those who soothe

Those who construct
and those who destroy
Those who are real
and those who are decoy
Those who mix
and those who curd
Those who can speak
and those who can't be heard

Cheers to those who loudly scream, but are turned a deaf ear to.
Cheers to those who patiently beg for concern, yet are turned a blind eye to.
Cheers to those whose hearts are broken and ache in silence.
Cheers to those having no more tears to cry nor a heart left to suffer.
Cheers to those whose life *****, and smile, though.
Cheers to those who love deeply, and aren't loved back.
Cheers to those who keep stumbling, and getting back on their feet.
Cheers to those whose days are alike, yet they are used to them.
Cheers to those who are in constant search of something they have no clue about.
Cheers to those having their faces buried through their phones day and night.
Cheers to those who are always aimelessly wandering.
Cheers to the poor who still believe that money doesn't create happiness.
Cheers to those who keep failing, and never surrender, and cheers to those who surrendered as well.
Cheers to those promising and never keep their promises.
Cheers to those trying their best to find a way out of their misery, and never succeed.
Cheers to those seeking attention, and never get it.
Cheers to those who appear strong publically, and lose that strength in private.
Cheers to those who fear, but always claim bravery.
Cheers to those desiring to change their lives, and have no idea how or where to begin.
Cheers to those undergoing hardships, and expect no aid.
Cheers to those who are lost and await no one's guide.
Cheers to those who vow to leave, and never dare to depart.
Cheers to those who have been abondoned, and left behind for no reason.
Cheers to those who never lose faith, no matter what, and cheers also to those who've failed keeping it...

Here I am! Elevated to a sordid state of mind;
And about my surroundings I claim no clue;
I just awoke from a kindred nightmare, true;
That I had had of late, ah! And I was blind;
Perhaps there ain’t a lovely creature around;
To t’is fate I hath been forcefully bound.

Here I was! As deranged as I may be now;
That I hath loved and vowed on the down low;
As much as I used to do, and again today;
The finished worlds spoke to me like yesterday;
And the dead, descending in smoke on me;
Seem even more real than yon living tree.

And so, far from the bulging little lilac;
All hath been too demanding and tough;
That all hath been terse under the sunlight;
I pretty much am frightened not by the night;
But I, seeking not the morning of the hand;
I only find my love in words, and paint;

And being far, behind in the know;
I wish I could understand today and tomorrow;
That they shan’t stare at me with rugged fright;
That I can still share their gift for the light;
But so, they cannot see my calm and anger;
I hath grown out of them, forever.

To those whom I once loved, and now still do;
To those whom I hath found in my chest, anew;
To those in whom I once engrossed my faith;
To those that hath hurt me, of late;
To those, to whom Midnight is wrong poetry;
To those, to whom my love remains yet for me.

To those, to whom love bears another form;
To those, to whom Lavender is barely a poem;
To those, who threads not enough love to love me;
To those, to whom my herd is not yet born;
To those, to whom such singing is not what I see;
To those, to whom my applause is but my own.

To those, to whom darkness is not fair;
To those, to whom joys ought not to be shared;
To those, to whom May is May, and hark!
To those, to whom tears are in the park;
To those, to whom depression is laughter;
To those, to whom laughter is bland anger!

To those, to whom tears are a strand of love;
To those, to whom scars are not enough;
To those, to whom coarseness is strength;
To those, to whom care is not in length;
To those, to whom loving is not to be gently;
To those, to whom wrong is fate, and hate is me!

For such sadness is gloom, and gloom is joy;
To me that joy has flown, and misery borne still,
And misery that carries happiness to feel;
Misery that itself remains an elegant coy;
And there is no place on earth for us to roam;
No glance at our rights, no words for our poems!

For such sorrow is true, and sick am I;
I am a stranded fool to the simmering sky;
That even the Sun shall render me wrong;
I am not to enchant its unwavering songs;
And so all my poems be a string of hate;
None has cursed me, but strained me of late.

For such tears are faint, and weak am I;
I am a disillusion to the enlightened lie;
A disgust to the retraced steps and roads;
I am a disturbed one to the minds of both;
I am diseased, a sick to the brain and cold;
I am a heartless litter, a stained cloth.

For such illness, and tortured am I;
They shan’t know me, even my lies;
That in the graveyard that we could stay
Holding hands at the passing of awkward days;
I am too delighted at the bribed night;
I am alone, a solitaire under daylight.

For such disgrace, and hateful lesions;
For such talent is but an illusion;
That in the tomb that only they surrender;
Asking that the slyness shan’t last forever;
That they shall ask us to forgive, and hear
What they all now seek, and have here.

For such hallucinations, and thoughts;
For such merits, and feelings, are locked;
That I can see not the soil gray today;
Tramped on by their noisy feet, and say;
That even such a modest fate they deny;
That all that exist are a lie.

And who shall be me, who shall see?
I live in a poem, and die in paint;
That they shall seek not the quiet of me;
I smell like grass myself, and turpentine;
I shall grow and die both in the shadows;
And cease on the halo of tomorrows.

And who shall seek me, who shall care?
These months hath been depressed and unfair;
Ere such days, there were lonely winds;
The most severed hauling I’d ever seen;
And with them were sane, pitiful torments;
Sending me off into sad, consumed moments;

And who shall be with me, who shall comfort;
I hath been warded off by my cruel Lord;
‘Hind the shades, I can only hear weeping screams;
Yet not so beauteous as the raging beams;
And who shall hide within my slumber’s visions;
For I hath no pleasure, nor divine provisions;

And who shall be by my side, who shall sleep;
For these dreams hath no notions to keep;
And whose disdained wisdom shall fight to stay;
Whilst they hath words no more, not to say;
And who shall sleep amongst they frayed wise;
None to live under them, nor be their disguise;

And who shall be my darling, be my gloom;
I hath no more wit left, not to meet;
Nor discomfort, nor to see my light poem;
I am not entertained by their sullen bits;
For such laughs are tears, and insincere;
For such songs are bitter, none that I hear;

And who shall be my heart, be my truth;
Who shall be grief to play my Eolian lute;
I hath seen none else among this seared grass;
And my winters shall go, and for fires to last;
They made me leave my heart in the sick past;
They hath made me and my chest apart;

And who shall be my tree, be my kind;
My poem is in good and evil and their lines;
For no dearer has sought me, by mean peril;
They’ve wished to run me into an Evil;
Ah! But whose love can be, to love me;
I am a literal madness no soul would be;

And who shall be my tree, be my lover;
Perhaps this sadness shall last forever;
And such joys shall sleep in demerits;
And the weathered daydreams, shan’t meet;
Perhaps I am meant to be my sweetheart—
Nor my darling, a thousand worlds apart.

This is for those who lived and those who died,
For those who hoped and those who cried.
For those who were only ever a number,
For those who are now in an eternal slumber.

This is for those who tried to fight,
For those who never slept at night.
For those who never made it through,
For those who were just like me and you.

This is for the orphans without a home,
For those who always felt alone.
For the parents who watched their children burn,
For those who prayed the world would learn.

This is for the innocent who were naive,
For the ignorant who didn’t want to believe.
For the homeless who had nowhere to go,
For those who felt they were below.

This is for those who lost their rights,
For those who fell from great heights.
For those who suffered unforgettable pain,
For those who’ll never believe again.

This is for those who lived and those who died,
For those who hoped and those who cried.
The whole world now lives in regret,
But rest in peace, for we’ll never forget.

surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law,
you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.'"
~ Matthew 5:20

"But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
your sins have hidden His face from you...
We look for light, but all is darkness;
    for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.
Like the blind we ***** along the wall,
    feeling our way like people without eyes...
For our offenses are many in Your sight,
    and our sins testify against us.
Our offenses are ever with us...
rebellion and treachery against the LORD,
    turning our backs on our God..."
~ Isaiah 59:2,9b-10a,12,13a

"...alienated from God and...enemies in your minds
because of your evil behavior."

against all the godlessness and wickedness of people,
who suppress the truth by their wickedness,

the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—
His eternal power and divine nature—
have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made,
so that people are without excuse."
~ Romans 1:18-20

    and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;

and death through sin, and in this way
death came to all people, because all sinned..."
~ Romans 5:12

"As it is written:
'There is no one righteous, not even one;
     there is no one who understands;
    there is no one who seeks God.
All have turned away,
    they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
    not even one.'...
Therefore no one will be
declared righteous in God’s sight
by the works of the law;
rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin."

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."
~ 1 John 4:9-10

by becoming a curse for us..."
~ Galatians 3:10a,13a

"Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation
for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience
of the one man the many will be made righteous."
~ Romans 5:18-19

"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive...
The first man was of the dust of the earth;
the second man is of heaven."
~ 1 Corinthians 15:22,47

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through Him all things were made; without Him
nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life,
and that life was the light of all mankind...
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.
We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son,
who came from the Father, full of grace and truth...
For the law was given through Moses;
grace and truth came through Jesus Christ...

the firstborn over all creation.
For in Him all things were created:
things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;
all things have been created through Him and for Him.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
And He is the head of the body, the church;
He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead,
so that in everything He might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him,
and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things,

He is able to help those who are being tempted."

"For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to empathize with our weaknesses,

so that we may receive mercy and find grace
to help us in our time of need."

"...because Jesus lives forever,
He has a permanent priesthood.
Therefore He is able to save completely
those who come to God through Him,
because He always lives to intercede for them.
Such a high priest truly meets our need—
one who is holy, blameless, pure,
set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Unlike the other high priests,
He does not need to offer sacrifices day after day,
first for His own sins, and then for the sins of the people.
He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered Himself."
~ Hebrews 7:24-27

and the LORD has laid on Him
    the iniquity of us all."

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him
is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned
already because they have not believed in the name of God’s

but whoever rejects the Son will not see life,
for God’s wrath remains on them."

and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you
believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth
that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says,
'Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.’

for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus
the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free
from the law of sin and death. For what the law was
powerless to do because it was weakened by the sinful nature
God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man
to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in sinful man,
in order that the righteous requirements of the law
might be fully met in us, who do not live according
to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit...

deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it,
but whoever loses their life for Me will save it.
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world,

~ Hebrews 2:14-15

"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision
of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us
all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,
