Mzansi' reality
Bright Oct 2013
Trapped within this heat there’s an
Ocean of thoughts defeating me.

Suicide has come and gone even death
Is confused. I am awake yet the whole
Of ikasi is half-asleep.

Conflict between races: black, white, yellow,
I mix these colors and get red for bloodshed
Bombarding my mind as I choose my artillery:
Butcher’s knife or bread knife? Mxm **** it, I opt to
Load my machine gun as I take no prisoners.

I live only by one rule “spare not the feelings of those
Who have none.”

As my stu-stu-stu-stuttering riffle goes “tat’ i cover lova,”
They blaze to bushes with rampaging speed and seeing as my weight
Constitutes a majority of ten, I choose to be democratic and side with its
Vote, by not running but instead sending a hail of bullets.

Voetsek, Voetsek and Voetsek I say!!

As dusk breaks into dawn I am shattered into reality as prison introduces me to myself. I started shaking like the last shivering leaf on a dying tree and came to realize:  The person whom I slaughtered was not only my neighbor, but was also my brother and if I have to suffer for my brother whom they call ikwerekere to survive, then I say “give me pain till I die!”.

He has done it, lived life abundant
Meyiwa has not fallen, such talent

He has done it, remember that comment
Sprung with shooting star brilliance, a comet
Snatched victory from jaws of defeat
Said a sports anchor but these words won't befit

Meyiwa has not fallen, he rose against all odds
Stood the last defense line until there was none left but the gods

He has done it
Lead a triumphant life out of skeletons of the dead
Fired up the squadron to sail turbulent currents, a true sea conqueror's head

Captain of a ship that carries hopes of sowetans and mzansi multitudes
Defended nation's dignity with his spirit and a never say die attitude

Senzo meyiwa, deeds never fall
Soul stands tall and keep heaven's gates open
So unfair yet we do not despair, we look to you to mend heart's broken

Your life will not be in vain
As we go through this pain you inspire a purpose to find healing again

Rest in peace Senzo Meyiwa (24/09/1987 - 26/10/2014)

touching ourselves with our thoughts
we people are on our own
a defiant voice once said that
i jacked off
and woke up,
what a forsaken routine.
sleep is but a loud plea from me
chanting
while
life stands in the way
death ends it
arrogant headaches too
I guess I’m woke.
mzansi please
my eyes won’t stick together
tiny black crystals of water disrupt peace.
decadent birds heard
about me too
they try
I try.
sleep still jumps over me;
like the mad cow that kicks.
Tucked away behind four walls
I am the carnivorous bed rodent that kills.
Ifa leziwula lilwelwa
abokuhambha
Jomga eqhebegha
sidayisiwe ngo pondo
no sheleni. Refugee warriors
on our doorsteps.
We are grateful for this true freedom.
Our future has never been this peaceful and certain. Verwoed
must be turning in his grave.
Our good governance has
proven him wrong.
Viva Mzansi, Africa's pride.
