I sing sweet whispers of affection
Offer only the best to catch your attention
I ask you, oh radiant goddess of Olympus
May I humbly be the one you choose

For eons your heart suffered
Your trust tampled and discarded
Your coveted love easily forgotten
Leaving you in pain, down and broken

Oh goddess, queen of Olympia
Shine your light towards me
Look at my growing affections, I pray
Embrace my devotion, and the words I say

I don't want to be the Zeus you loathe
Nor the offered champions who eventually leave you
Instead I simply am a mortal admirer
Enamoured by you, my eyes only seeking you

I don't want to be the one who hurts you
I simply want to devote myself completely to you
So I pray for a future that you will see me
As I have chosen to seek the world just for you

Oh Hera, beautiful yet broken soul
I promise you a lifetime of Love
Just to give you smiles everyday
And to be your pillar and strength

In my simplest mortal words, I love you
Regardless of your flaws and your iniquities
In my simplest mortal ways, I'll love you
Through all the ages, no matter what stands in our way

So please, Let me choose to stay
Because your mere presence is my heaven
Your embrace my sturdy, protective walls
Your kisses the nectar and ambrosia that sustains me

Oh Hera, goddess of my affections
Please see me as where you fit
I'll stay here until you're ready to choose
Because in all this chaos, I vow to treasure you
Dedicated to "Hera"

Happy New Year!
I love you!
Thanks for reading!

First poem of 2019

As the Thunderbolt God Jupiter
Saturn’s brother
Pursued his loves in disguise
The Goddess Hera sat upon her throne
Irritated and plotting
Gazing with angry jealous eyes

Oh, courageous intelligent Athena
****** Goddess of the hunt
Dare the foolish to cast eyes upon her unclothed
Under the sentence of a tortuous death
Its said by many she was not birthed
But sprang surprisingly from her father’s head

The lovely Aphrodite
Would melt the hearts of many a man
Who would offer up their life
For but a faint touch of her hand

The Light God Apollo admirer of the word, reciting poetry
Pluck the gold lyres delicate strings
While the sea god Poseidon’s twelve daughters
Dressed in dripping seaweed began to sing

Ares of the bold god of war
Feared conqueror and great warrior
Planted flowers
As was his custom in the spring

Artemis in fervent haste strung her magical bow
For it was pursuit that stirred her blood
It flowed through her veins
Aged Roman wine
Running stags through shadowy woods

The gods of the Kings
The Gods of the people
To whom many sacrifices were made
Lived thousands of years beyond the lifespan of man
So, say the storytellers of olden times and past days

Ah, Aphrodite whom's namesake leaps bounds,
Yet Artemis who is among the careful to arouse.
Delightful Persephone in her garden of souls,
Blessed creation like that of Demeter's lavenders.

Perhaps it is Hestia's hearth that which warms our hearts,
Or the bright light of the moon that which Selene croons.

Even Hera herself rings love under wedlock,
All but for Harmonia and her accursed dystonia.
Give forth to sweet Psyche who lies on sweet wings,
Illuminated by the truth that is Hecate's rule.

All of these Goddesses who've experienced love and joy,
Somehow Athena cultivates mere tactical ploys.
I wrote this during a phase of when I was very deeply delving into obscure Greek literature and myths. This one is rather chock full of them and can seem rather convoluted. This is probably one of my older works.

Maybe it’s just me
But I once thought you were the sun bright, a necessity for living; you rode in the sky’s like Hera
your hair gliding, grazing the clouds as wisps of nothingness in which I found my everything, but like everything else, it would seem a mirage, fantasy portrayed in my head despite the words that you so redundantly speak with no fruition. I’ve supposed the end before, but like reincarnation there is no end for this heart seems to never get enough of the addicting pain that it is fed. So now what? Take a look. It has a name; we call it numb. A persona where I feel nothing and feel everything at the same time. I would have climbed the tallest tree for you. Took the bullet for you, for it seemed that cupped in your hands was me, the moon that orbits the sun. Except that now the sun has darkened with white lies, and more lies that I choose to ignore because just maybe....just maybe there’s something left of you that I can tether to. You give me moments. Such sweet moments, addicting, and poison after. But it seems you’re a mastermind at the game, for, whenever I muster the strength to speak you give me more candy and again, I am addicted. If I could I would jump in the ocean and drown to escape the pain you constantly give me; but let’s face it. No matter how much I say, think, or write, the cycle you’ve conditioned me to will win and I will choke in my own absolution, laced with withdrawal from you
Sad, depression, love, faith, happiness, family
