About You
 Apr 2014 Sara

I wrote a poem about you,
But I can't let you read it
Because I'm under the impression that if you say something,
You have to mean it
And I don't know what I mean anymore

i hate people.
i love people.
but that's the issue
with people.
is that you can hate them,
and
you can love them,
but no matter what you tell yourself,
you can't live without them.

he sits in the corner
of his deserted mind
where not even he
wants to keep
himself company.
the smell of
broken dreams
pang the air.
he feels tired.
he feels wasted.
but most of all
he feels

                                                                       alone.

and all he wanted
was a sign
from someone
from anyone
just to know
that he wasn't
the only one
who felt this way.

I don't know much,
but I can tell you what "whole" looks like.
I've seen it stumble forward
with weary eyes and tired hands.
Come close,
I will hand you a mirror
and tell you to look carefully.
Can you not hear the galaxies
beneath your skin?
They paint in whispers
that even oceans cannot grasp.
I know it took a hurricane and two floods,
but there is soil in your ribcage;
your scars told me so.
Don't mind them though,
they're just reminders
that you love harder than anyone else.
I know you might feel hollow,
but there is a reason your heart
has lofted ceilings.
Never forget how you fought
for all that space.
Look carefully.
These gray skies inside your lungs
are simply a canvas,
and you rain so beautifully.
Oh darling,
you rain so beautifully.

Loving you is like an ice,
It's cold,hard,
and limpid.
I can see the real you,
But soon it melts.

Loving you is like a flower,
It blooms when it's autumn,
Sunlight penetrates the petals,
But soon it wilts.

Loving you is like a tissue,
it erases the tears,
brings the laughter,
But soon it torn,
drowned by the burden of love.

Loving you is like a book,
Those beautiful verses
are you.
But soon it ends with
a full stop.

Loving you is like a music,
rhythm rhymes.
the only thing I want to hear,
But soon the rhymes scatter.

The only thing I know
about loving you is,
Your smile is dangerous,
that I was stupid to fall
into them.

There was a man
Who with his hands
Pressed
Against this glass
Screamed
As he watched his wife
Pulled
Beneath these roaring waves

But he could not hear
Her desparate plea
For him to finally
Please let her go

My heart it bleeds
For the man now on his knees
Silent
As his tears
Splash
Against this glass

Daddy, take my hand so I can be safe from hurt, harm, or danger
Shield me from the world
Lock in with my hands
Never let go
But baby one day I will have to take a key and unlock our hands and I’ll have to let you go
Live in the world alone
See things for yourself
But daddy it’s a cold world full of things that may consume me for the worse
Change me, Rearrange me
Don’t say Bye-bye to your daughter
Keep this lock on our hands
We have a great connection
We’re inseparable, Daddy
I need you to stay locked to me
But baby one day I will have to take a key and unlock our hands
Stop Dad!...I know this
I just don’t want to let go of our father, daughter connection we have
I smile, you smile
I cry, you cry
Baby you don’t have to say bye-bye
I’ll still be here for you
So take this life key I give you and unlock our hands
Flourish in the world
Make me proud that I’m your Dad

How do I choose between two
Two hearts offered to me
Two  souls searching for love

How do I turn one away?
Two hearts and one will break
Two worlds very different from each other

I cannot choose
I cannot lose
How would I make that decision?

It does not matter whether god is here or not.

Because we are here.
