A single *****'ling star,
is all that's left of hope.
A tenuous gold thread,
all that's left of light's rope.

And then, a voice. I heard
echoes through the night.
Oh creature of shadows,
do you bring the newest light?

An answer I expected,
but no such one received.
Instead, there was only silence.
And me, of hope bereaved.

But back it came,
it's likeness as a child.
An offered hand
and a smile pure and mild.

And as I stood, the light
wrapped round me like a vine.
Now sorrow is banished from me,
and happiness is mine.

Silence is what I've heard,
Pain is what I've felt.
Darkness is what I've known,
against my skin, hate pelt.
Salt thrown o'er their shoulders,
crosses upon her chest,
spittle lining the streets
where my feet came to rest.
Prejudice and hate
surround me where e'er I go.
And still I fought my battles
so that other people might know.
Branded with a scarlet letter,
mistrust and spite abound,
Tell me truly, does it get better?
Or does hate the world surround?
I wrote this about the prejudice I faced when I was growing up. It's one of my most treasured poems.

Up and down,
spin around,
flitter in the sky.
Sing a song,
dancing long,
And when night comes, you cry.
Now the stars *****'ling
and the Earth no inkling
of your once beloved song.
Sun rise again
from where 'twas lain.
Now hear joy thro' hours long.

Fire dance across the sky.
Whisking wind, ******* high.
Warmed by sun and bleached by rain,
thousands of years have I lain.

Blue ice whisper, roaring far.
Back and forth, ne'er ending spar.
White and blue, a beautiful band.
Sunrise, sunset, gentle reprimand.

Cursed heav'n, so blessed sweet,
doomed that we should never meet
to air salty breathe.
Dreaded, sweet, blessed sea.
This was actually about the ocean.  I was missing it because it's winter.  Some words like cursed and blessed, you have to pronounce the e at the end of the word.

You left me, dear,
my heart was yours.
Now you have turned it black.
Love is fey,
'tis gone away.
It never did come back.

Out the door,
your back to me,
my soul was turned to stone.
Love was sweet,
gentle. My heart!
But now, dear love is gone.

Like fire burned red
is now ash grey,
and in misery I pine.
Cold, cruel love,
oh where art thou?
My pain ne'er gone in time.

Red, green, purple, yellow,
light, dark, bright and mellow.
Smiling faces, frowning sighs,
morning wakes and lullabies.

Splash of paint and stroke of light,
scratch of pencil, close in night.
Rip of paper, breaking thread,
whisper of brush all covered in red.

Twisting and dancing, always still.
Delicate meadows, colors fill.
Animals ready to leap away,
painted so they never stray.

Songbirds sing with melody strong
Silent whistl'ing, where hearts belong.
A cursed blessing, trapped for good.
Story where my picture stood.
