Haikus are so easy to
write, I can write too
Just 19 syllables, HA!

How can you have a crush on someone you've never met

How can you admire words you've never heard

How can you become infatuated with a pixel face

How can you relate and laugh at situations you've never witnessed

How can you get entwined in moments you wish occurred

How can you desire someone and not know if they think about you, too

I'll never come to know how this came to be
but what I do know is that your frozen smile makes me happy
Yes I've stalked his Instagram too

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

11:11 make a wish,
we wish upon a simple number
A number that does not actually exist
but still we hope and wonder

Catch that loose eyelash to blow it away,
making a small plea in its blunder
A detached follicle, aimless and dead
but still we hope and wonder

Flame on a birthday candle joyous and then put out,
creating year-long wishes under
a small breath only you hear and no other
but still we hope and wonder

Shooting star caught once in a lifetime
sparkling in your awe with no sign of thunder
only a hyper ball full of gas
but still we hope and wonder

Why we make wishes to no avail is a question hard to answer
all we need is something false to latch onto so we can hope and wonder

Why can't I just reveal--
reveal my true feelings for you
Just break the silence one day
and hope you feel this way too
Why can't I just scream at the top of my lungs--
my lungs expelling burdens I've locked up
A sense of empowerment beckons over me
as I imagine just saying 'enough'
Why can't I just talk to you the way--
the way I explain this infatuation to my friends
Slowly going through the reasons I fell
from your beginnings to your ends
I can't let go of this little secret but deep down I know why
Self-doubt arises inside of me and determines no, not I

Caveat emptor, buyer beware
Not everything is the way it seems-
You stole an assumption from me

Caveat emptor, buyer beware
My Innocence had gotten the best of me-
Countless imaginations about you, countless dreams

Caveat emptor, buyer beware
I felt betrayed even without commitment
I don’t know why but I thought you’d be an exception

Caveat emptor, buyer beware
A kiss on my cheek and venom on your lips
Vulnerability at its finest

Caveat emptor, buyer beware
I thought you had committed a sin,
But it was me who had wronged for I hadn’t realized-
Caveat emptor*, buyer beware
