thick fog starts lifting, slow but sure
the horizon shows off pink and orange
earth gratefully sinks into gentleness,
a familiar face forgot for far too long
the timid smile of hope peeks out from the clouds

cool air billows, the calming waves
breathe away the aches and pains
bright sun kisses gently, warm
eyes lifted to the heavens
body lighter on the ground
battered, bruised, and bleeding, but
roots find their balance
push forward through the soil
confident, start remembering where to go
shy petals show their faces, soft and fragile
at first it's all blinding, with eyes the sun forgot
but bright color swells and they are beautiful again
the flower idly sways, in unfamiliar bliss
its petals, roots, and leaves drink in
the golden honey rays of warmth
almost thankful for the winter's harsh and bitter brutal
torture
now spring is so much sweeter

suddenly tossed into confusion
shaken like a dusty rug my ears start ringing
caught by wild waves, drowning, gulping,
looking for life but where's up and where's down and-
slamming SLAMMING
splattered against the glass
crystal clear marred by deep red dripping
gut-punched by mother nature's brutal fist
eyes hazy but they look behind the wheel -
through the crimson tinted mirror -
locking with my own
the windshield wiper scrapes
   screaming, hoarse
scrapes
   sobbing, defeat
scrapes

drops my leaden body to the asphalt
muddled in misery curled up in my head
time flies, but my wings are broken

Drowning in oxygen, lungs stuffed with molasses
Heart pumping, but nothing rushes through my veins
Skin crawling with whispers of hands plastered there
I ache, I bend, I break, try to scream but gurgle in vain,
My throat coated thick in tar and shame
I am smaller than myself. this mangled body can't be mine

Manic dances, joyous crashing
High tide blood rushing to the finish line
Eyes filled with honey, sickly sweet
Drooling heart in gluttonous grip
Canines, sunk into tender flesh
Rot spreads through the body
