My daughter dances to the dryer
Worn sleeves are
warmed up.
Swaying,
She closes her eyes
like I do
Every time I lose myself to dance.
We quiet a world
That asks us to be more body than clothes
I join her
We move to the knocking
of cotton
dirtied by yesterday
cheerios.
salt.
saliva laughter.
I fold into her
We do not need
to be cleaned
The purist of love
moves on hardwood floor.
most people see me as
a happy person because
i laugh easily,
i smile a lot,
i joke a lot.

but deep down
in my heart,
i am fragile,
i can get hurt easily,
but i choose to not
show it to the world.

instead of being sad,
i choose to laugh to cover it.
maybe you can call me
"the queen of the mask"

by this,
you can tell
that most of the time
when I'm laughing,
I'm not really laughing,
i was trying so hard to hide
my sadness.
Don't let them see
You're hurting.

Reach out a little,
Ask for help,
But not too much.

Everything hurts,
But it's not a matter
Of mattering
It's matter
Of knowing you'll never
Be quite enough
For anyone.

Too distant a friend,
And when not withdrawn
Too clingy.
No in between.

Too troubled.
Too insecure.
Too much,
Just too much.

Don't ask for help.
Don't talk it out
Because you don't even know what's wrong,
Why have a support system
When you're breaking?

They'll leave anyway.

Close you eyes,
Hold your breathe,
You're in for something
Unexpected.

People might not help you
When you need it,
But they can't help you
If they don't know.

And they won't know
If you sew your mouth shut,
With "They'll leave anyway."

Take a risk,
Take a chance,
Tell a soul.
A kindred spirit
Will always
Hear it.
Fun fact: If you change the song you're listening to while writing a poem it changes how the poem ends.
Our love is like the puzzle pieces
We bought when we were dating,
The ones that came without
The guiding box-top picture.

Day after day you hand
Me pieces of emerald green
Or royal blue.  Some days they're
Orange with a streak of white.

For years now I've been
Lining up the edges,
Linking one piece into another,
But the image remains fragmented.

Now here I am at the end
Of my life, pushing the
Final piece into place.
With tears filling my eyes,

I behold a photograph of you and I
Sitting on our front porch.
Our old, wrinkled hands clasped
As we watch the sprinkler

Move back and forth,
Laughing as our grandchildren
Leap through the streams
That shimmer in the sunset.
Inspired by, and dedicated to my wife.
Twin towers up so high
Who know they'd fall from the sky
Fifteen years ago
A tragedy that we all know
So many died
And so many cried
Now all can do is remember the dead
We think what can not be said
May we all remember 9/11
you asked why i'm still around
when your so obviously broken
most men would be sprinting
after seeing you so un-made up

truth is they were weak
where they saw damage
I saw strength
cant recognize it if you lack it

I knew the real you the day we met
felt your edges and never looked back
we don't have to fix each other
we fit together

in the end I love you because i know
that anyone who smiles so brightly
can only have lived in the darkness
and that's beautiful
She went to the police.
Told them she was being abused.
They didn't believe her.
They thought she was another teenage fiend.
She went back.
Told them that she was *****.
They didn't believe her.
They thought she was another lying child.
She came again.
Told them she got beat up.
They didn't believe her.
They said if she comes again they will arrest her.
Her bestfriend came.
Told them that she was killed.
They didn't believe him.
He came back.
Told them that they aren't worth their lives.
They just laughed.
He left.
They got a call.
The person told them.
That they saw two bodies in the river.
The police went to check it out.
The bodies belonged to the girl and the boy.
The girl was killed.
The boy committed suicide.
Just to be with her.
The police were wrong.
They didn't believe their eyes.
They should start believing more.
**** April and it's fools.
The police were the fools in this story.
They started to believe more.
They saved lives of many after that.
But what I'm wondering is.
How come they didn't save those two kids.
That would've had lives to live.
If only they had believed.
In this retched April Fools story.
When you close your eyes to sleep at night
You see me in the darkness
Playing with all my fairy friends when you stay just out of sight
I think you have become a sort of empress,
Determined to forget
All the fun times we had together when you were just a kid.
I wonder why you stopped believing
When their was still a lifetime ahead
Plenty of fun was still to come, the whole world at our fingertips
But then our universe altered.
You didn't sing songs or dance in the rain, your dreams were all forgotten
Penny's stayed in your pockets, nevermore thrown in pretty looking fountains.
I guess you decided it was time to grow up,
But that doesn't mean you must completely move on
Every now and then its still ok to step into our fairy world
So join me on our long lost search for dragons
I know your favorite tree is waiting
Were all wondering were you went
So please, I beg of you, just for one more night, meet me in the woods
And we can yell and dance and sing our sacred songs
till the lights burn out and were left in pitch black
The kind that chills you to the bone, but leaves you wanting more.
Just stop bye when your back in town
At least leave us a little visit
We still have all the teacups made of leaves, and the plates from wood on the ground
We haven't forgotten a single thing, we just need you to remember
Even when your old and grey, we´ll still be her
Its never to late to relive childhood fantasies
Their are still so many fun things to do, but only one way to go about it,
The secret to fairies, dreams, and magic only is one word
Just one leap, one jump, one step.
All you have to do, to bring us back to you....
Believe.
