she told me
if she had to be my world
she would wear the equator like a noose
she told me
that no man is ever permitted
to find the coordinates of her love
only explore the snowy mountaintops of her ice age
she will never be anything but cold
she will never love anything but herself
and that would be okay if it were true
but it isn't
I know that one day a man will happen upon
the correct latitude of her heartbeat
he will find a way to pull every continent back together
while I tried to swim from one to the other
I will drown in her oceans
in her eyes
in her words
she will tell me it isn't my fault
she will tell me she wishes she could have loved me like I loved her
she will tell me she is sorry
and she will be
and I will forgive her
but his arms will wrap around her waist
an equator she won't hang from
and he won't have to forgive her

I still feel your breath on my neck sometimes
With that stiff, clinical hand that you placed upon my spine
Examining my face for harsh, worrisome lines
As I walked the chemical tightrope that exists only in mind

Now, still precariously balanced, still unanimously blamed
I'm holding out for your smile in each passing face
Though it's been years since they burned you in cold Virginian flames
I can still see you watching me through the windowpane

My name displaced in your mouth like some placid stone
The weight on your tongue silencing thoughts unknown
As your fingers nimble upon needles, weaving our winter clothes
Once slept in a box where your ashes now are stowed

You held no Catholic reservations, nor illusions implausibly sweet
And left me with no bullets to deliver from stolen grief
But sometimes, in my dreaming, you offer me reprieve
With skin so milky white, loose and starch like a sheet

I watched you behind that curtain, with satin on your back
In the flickering light of candles, where shadows often pass
And criss-cross in patterns, over blue eyes watery and vast
To ignite a glowing smirk, whose teeth do shimmer like glass

Your hair still wispy and short, the color of strawberries faint
Fallen in a gossamer crown, to covet your wrinkled face
You would take to me like a feather, and swath me in your immortal embrace
Speaking divinely of Heaven, and all your ghostly grace

With that kind, melodious laugh I have so terribly missed
Pressing rosebuds to my temple in a matriarchal kiss
A dream we were in, your wings reverently clipped
For a time, if only, I felt within your loving grip

You warned me not to be fooled, to make no mistake
You would have returned to your grave by the time that I should wake
With trembling fingers clinging tightly to your remains
Standing in your old room, the bed forever made

I remembered whispering in your ear, as your conscious mind wore thin
Life support wailing, the color drained from your lips
My fingers searching desperately for the pulse that was buried in your wrist
I told you I would never forget you: my precious, parting gift

I am afraid.
Afraid that I will lose you
To the merciless entropy of the Universe,
Or to the inexorable mystery of God’s plan,
Call it whatever you want, but whatever it is
I am afraid that it will take you from me at any moment,
And that I will be alone again.

I am afraid.
Afraid that every moment with you will be the last,
And our last shared experience will be an insignificant goodbye,
And that will be the last memory I have of you.
That is why I insist on physical contact, because
It reassures me that you’re real and
I am afraid that if I don’t constantly remind myself
I will forget what you felt like,
And then I will forget what we felt like.

I am afraid.
Afraid that I will lose you and not remember you,
That I will feel an unbearable and aching emptiness
And not know why.
I am afraid of fading memories,
As they suggest an essential futility in the beautiful endeavor
That was us.
They suggest that we is incapable of being constant,
That we is merely a rotation of the stone
As it continues its mossless journey to the sea.

I am afraid.
Afraid that in losing we I will lose a part of myself
And remain forever broken and immutably unwhole,
Unable to put myself back together because
My pieces are missing.
I am afraid that we is an essential part of me,
And that I will never recover from the loss.

I am afraid of losing you and afraid of losing me.
I am afraid of being alone and afraid of being broken.

I am afraid that we will lose we and
Then nothing will ever be okay again.

I am afraid.
I am afraid.
I am afraid.

in the sweeping sepia tones of my monotonous,
rushed life, my chest aches to be sprung free.

the urge of flight has never been more viscerally real,
more capable of pinning me to the spot
until my very bones burst from this body bag
suffocating my chest. never have i felt
so wickedly sick, so obviously the cliche
broken fragile thing bleeding out all over the page.

never have i felt so devoid of words.

it's like before, i was full -  brimming with half-thought
ideas and plots and characters, thrumming with
elementary concepts and words but at least i was flooded,
at least my soul was alive.

with the pain came a different flood, a tidal wave in the dead of
night, a cool soaking of the wicked flames that etch in
the monster's shadows. with a muse came my best
works, my raging thoughts, my torment and despair
and bloodthirsty butterflies battering my guts. with
the depression came the rawness that they lapped up,
crowed about, choked back tears. with another muse, i found
desire and passion and lust in the sinful tonguelipsteeth,
the bony handshipsframe. with all these things i found
the words and found a freedom, however temporary.

with change, i found an empty cavern.

the bottom of the grand canyon, less spectacular up close than from the top. less than. empty. hollowed out.

there is before the fall, there is during. they don't talk about the after.
or rather, they do, but there's aftermath - there's cracks and broken
bones and heaving chests and blood gushing, rushing
to the surface to see the light of day.

i bled out before i hit the ground. what happens when you get
the perfect ten, when you land with ease? what happens
when the potential is there, but the words dry up?

i feel potential in the moments wasted,
the beauty in all the strangeness,
the agony of existence. i see the people and
i want to be their storytellers, their cartographers,
their artist. i want them all as my muses.
i collect them and name them and tuck them away
in pockets too full of secrets, putting them aside for tomorrow,
another day, when i get back to the room but find
myself drowning out my words in other worlds.

i know the potential like the sailor knows the seas.
i see the beauty like the diamond in the rough.
i feel the agony in every second like the swish of
the guillotine.

swish. swish. swish.
out of time, out of mind
existence was a phase; here is the end
of our glory days.

It’s the cliché that becomes cliché—the pain, the hurt, the ache that smothers your entire soul, to the point where it becomes a poison, flowing throughout every vein that you so helplessly depend on to survive. I think there’s a reason that God didn’t give us the right words to describe Love. Perhaps because it forces us to go out and discover it for ourselves, so somehow, one day, we can write our own books, with the tenuous words that we don’t even know exist. But there is a language out there, a language that all humans understand, between every longitude to every latitude that circles the globe. For at the core humans all share the same things; two eyes, two ears, a nose, a mouth, legs, arms, lungs, to the very microscopic cells that lay the foundation for our inimitable kind. But we also all share one particularly peculiar portentous thing:
A heart.
And for every beat it beats, between every pump of blood that keeps our bodies alive, are the words being spoken that we cannot, and will never understand.

I want you
to be
the only
one
I’ll
ever
fall in love with.
The only one
to know
my
latitudes
and longitudes.
To memorize
my degrees
and geographies.
To
bask near
my
equator.
To
mark
courses
and
journeys
across
my skin
like ships
with sails
made of
your hopes – my love – our dreams.
I want you to
be my North star.
My guiding
force
to see me
safely to
your shores.
I want you
to never
let go.
Like the moon
as the
sun rises
in the
East.
I want
to be
your
Compass Rose.
To be there
when
you loose
direction.
To be
your
anchor.
Your
starting point.
To be something
beautiful
when
the world
has gone
dark and ugly.
Because
you are
all
that
matters.
You are my
Earth.
My map of my world.
The sun I revolve around.
My moon and the stars my fingers trace in the night sky.
The one I love.
And will always love.

A whisper-touch of silk kissing darkness,
A misty haze of paradise, beneath the moon's bathe...

I drift upon his fragrance... lashes bathed in shadows, meeting the hand, that slides my arm;
Fingertips that softly brush the curve of my throat;
And he smiles as I tremble; breathing his whispered desire....in
The sweet of first blush,
Where soft rose tipped lips yearn the sweet taste of him,
I am melted, a whimper-ache
Unraveled
Tumbling into the still of cherish,
Naked under brown eyes deepening, to dark...

My Love,
Expel this breath from my breast,
The breath that was born to inhale your smile,
Translate my body in a braille of your hands,
As I place your fingertips deep in the wet of me,
Slowly moving them across your lips,
Fill me with the breadth of your rhythm;
And coax this purr from the back of my throat,
Slide across these aching *******, your weep-wild ecstasy,
Pulsing deep in vibrant ripples, quivering in the dark, where
My blush beckons your tongue-brush... sheathe me in wet satin ribbons;
As I take you inside, so deep within the intoxication,
Lost in the caress of fingers on skin,
Hands in my hair,
Quiver-claim me,
Taste me
Where the red rose of ecstasy opens her petals to the white moon,
Deep in devoured tender,
Where the rain of something deeper,
Swallows exploration in hollow breaths...

My supple body, an ****** garden of velvet blossoms,
Opening slowly beneath the heated shore of your desire,
Splashed in a gasp of sighs, absorbed in a destiny of shivers,
Arced with unashamed yearn,
As fire bursts once again into soaring flames... the pulse
Of such arrhythmia, timing the beats within my rise and descent;
Bleeding each tender vein along unforgiving rapture;
I bathe in crystal clear waters
Pure as the divine currents we share, drowning so softly in your love;
Primal needs lay me in sweet fields of surrender, as
Midnight plunges into the worship of a passion-breathed breeze
Wielding the strand of flame against silk, lost in the soft,
Precious wind-song of heartbeats, casting shadows that dance to unheard music;
A firestorm between finger’s grip, burning untamed, beneath your skin, where my lips play a searing ache;
Sinuously tautened, your swell lays lush inside the meld of my heat,
Rocking hardness buried in velvet;
We shiver....I shiver, and
The wetted flower burns the shatters of night...

Skin upon skin in the smokey timbre of dripping wishes,
Synergies meet,
Burning dark, sharing breath...
We discover the flame of eternal burn, the promise of always
Across the shiver of yearn, where touches never end,
Where the breath of your heart scatters across my breast,
Where I lay before the blaze of your beautiful tender, finger painting shaded desire,
Along the curve of my thighs.....the cells of my spellbound body
Drenched in the poetry of your rain,
Tasting bonds with flowering tongues;
Joined in this most sacred act,
The merging of souls;
The taste of US, forever feeding your heart and mine;
Pushing deep against nectar's flow, like rainbows stained in milk;
Where thoughts are tethered in searing embrace.........
Forever awaits beyond the want in our eyes.....  knowing you write my last breath, beginning to end..... turning pages of gentle complete.....folding warmth one touch at a time......WE are all we will know when the last sunset whispers this love from my soul, beckoning to feel your embrace, until the end of time........

when the last verse closes the chapter of US... J
