The Morning After
Jun 1 Jun 8, 2026The heavy weeks pass. What's left is the small, the ordinary, the dishes. This week we practice re-entering our own lives, slowly, on purpose.
Describe the first ordinary thing you noticed this morning.

Lavender Morning:
The morning after you left me
I lingered too long
in love's haze.
A beautiful lavender shade
spilled across the windows.
I wandered empty spaces
still carrying your outline.
The house remembered you.
The mirrors remembered you.
Even silence
seemed to speak your name.
By nightfall
there were no traces of us left.
Only lavender light
and the strange feeling
that someone had survived
what someone else had lost.
The morning after
you loved me.

god's rays glittering on my eyes,
i thought of good things to come
the people i care about who don't care about me
will have better days to come, regardless

First ordinary thing I noticed today,
was a heap of laundry,
the washing machine,
the dishwasher standing right next to it.
Silent now, set to hum
Prepared to serve for the day
How can the ordinary be special?
Or how special can the ordinary be,
If not for their presence in our lives?
Ever so present, just like our breath
We know it is there, keeping us alive.
The ordinary is extraordinarily present
On any ordinary day.

Ordinary
The moment I rose
and realized
I had a good night's sleep.
I had never thought about it,
but once I noticed,
I couldn't help but cherish
this ordinary blessing—
to rest,
and to wake.

The sun shone through my window,
Casting the room in the brightness that can only be described as morning
The start of a new day is a beautiful thing
Knowing that is the same sun that rose yesterday,
And will rise the same way for hundreds of tomorrows,
Does nothing to reduce the grandness of the small miracle of waking every morn to bear witness
The simplicity of that moment
The beginning of a beginning, yet it doesn’t feel any grander than it need be

the sun was beaming
i was posed leaning
of what today can be
what i would be
how the sun continues to change
knowing i remain the same

There is sand in my hair and
bruises of the boogeyman remain;
violent, violet, vile remains.
A battle was lost, yet again,
the sandman was hung by
the boogeyman.

everything
everything is ordinary
the way the sun shines like it does every morning
the way the curtain folds like every night
the was 8 lie in my bed and the way i get up
nothing is out of the ordinary
the way my cupboard squeaks and the way my door rattles
nothing has changed
and i doubt it ever will change
everything has become once again so ordinary
i wish for something different
but it wont happen
it cant happen
and i wish it could

it’s the thirst of the eye
first thing in the morning
it’s always the light I’m looking for
my favourite: the morning light in summer
the unuttered light of a thought
a comforting presence, my books
a pair of red shoes waiting for me
a green dress waiting for you
so there is the wound of morning
but to see is to forget the name
of what you see

My rescue cat Harley woke me up to feed him. Purring loudly and rubbing his face on me. He is very vocal and was meowing loudly to make sure he got fed before I did anything else.

Life is ordinary in general
Life seeps into me with sameness
Ordinary life for an ordinary me
This what I notice everyday
Life is just life
No surprises
Just another day
Live life in spite of it ordinary ways
Someday to be on top of all that you feel
Finally being able to feel free and breathe.

just the soft return

The sofa's word
This morning when I woke,
I saw a gray stroke.
It's the sofa's soft face,not white,
but like a pigeon in flight.
It might be ordinary, but it's the first thing I saw,
like the pads of my dog's paw.
It brought back memories fresh and raw.
It ripped through my consciousness like a sharp claw.
