My body?
yearning for the love and attention I starve it of
it cries and decays because I only cause it harm
whether it be physical or mental
I hurt myself more than others
I'd rather be destroyed on the inside than to be seen as unlikeable
What my body wants you ask?
A chance to live freely
away from all judgement and pain
to be free from all I have done
abused destroyed and malnourished
love me it cries
love me like you love the people who have hurt you
abused and used you
why dont you

If you put your head
on my chest
you can sometimes hear the voices
yelling out
"health, health"
My body tells me that it wants health

My body?
It wants a lot,
I can tell you that much
but what I think it wants most
from my own heart, my own words
is for me to promise,
promise to drop that blade
untie the noose
cut those strings
and live freely
instead of simply surviving

How many more scents,
will you have me know?
How many more times,
must we ruin our sleep,
to feed some poor girl's false reality?
What happened to you,
wide-eyed kind boy?
It may not be today;
it may not be tomorrow:
But promise me
a return
to the rosy lens we once knew.

"Promise me you won't hurt me again," my body cries.
"I...can't," I reply.
"Scars to hide, bleeding eyes, to tame thoughts of suicide that never die."
"Why don't you love me, why do you hurt me? Show your scars, ask for help, talk in depth."
It pleads, "Do it for me, for yourself."
"I can't"... and that was the end.

Time out.
Smell the rose's.
And give yourself a break.
This body is yours.
Take care of it.

I'm not here to speak
Of what injustices await--
The underbellies of violators
Or the error in their ways
I, your body,
Possess a power
Eyed by bodies
Men dream devour
They could not care less
For age, weight, or dress
The tourists will still
Lust after your flesh
When those meant to guide you
Choose comfort instead
I, your mistress,
Surrender myself
But promises made
Are promises kept
And promises met
Are met with regret
Like I when I let them
First ravage our flesh

I will hold the weight of your bones
caress the scars where the world was too loud
listen to the quiet places where your breath falters
I will cherish the salt of your sweat
the tremor in your hands
I will be here when you collapse
cradling the fumble beneath your ribs
until it tames the rhythm of fear
I will witness the language of exhaustion
the way your shoulders carry
the ghosts of yesterday

I believe within myself, my beautiful body wants many things. But especially to treat myself with respect and honor my voices that speak within. To heal from depression and sorrow. Promising to slow down and try to breathe when shadows are near. I try to promise myself to think things through before I speak.

Promise to move with me,
not against me,
feel the drum in your ribs,
the tide in your breath.
Promise to rest when the pulse slows,
to rise when it sparks.
Feel the rush before the ache,
the beat before the break.
Stay close, stay true,
and I’ll carry you forward
in the rhythm we make together.

It's time to stop

For everyone
Maybe it's time
to let my true self show
Maybe it's time
to let my body grow.
