The smell of *****
trickled through the streets
immersed in honking
swirling in carbon monoxide
& hiding there
amongst the ****,
I handed the *******
a handful of nuts.

A noble
generous gesture
he quickly tossed,
& I pressed on,
leaving the beggar
to his own demise,
swimming between
lifeless black eyes
& mangy
barking
skeletal dogs
looking for
their next meal.
