There was a beautiful tree by the river.
We called it 'Crying Heather'
On summer days when the wind blew gently
Its branches made eerie sounds like crying

I had been told so many times
When the church bells chimed
This girl would always find her way to the river
She sat under the tree for hours, till night fell upon her.

Her lover had been lost at sea
And the world turned its back on her
She stared at the night sky singing to the wind
The river flowed her longing song away into the sea.

''Take me away into the sea where lovers are crying deep.
Through my veins their lonely songs would seep.
The cold deep water,so blue,i would float forever.
Waiting for my love, and  i would sever''

One cold foggy morning she disappeared
Another autumn day was coming near
They said she had drowned, taken away far far away to the sea.
Her song remained unheard. Her tears remain unseen
