Here I am,
slouched in my arm chair
puffing a cigar
as the flames dance
in the fireplace.
Therein you appear
slowly crawling your way
over to me.
Your hand gently
places itself upon my knee,
the other gripping my shirt,
pulling yourself closer to my face,
bringing those firm commanding eyes,
in sync .
With a quivering breath,
we kiss, yet, only briefly
before I pick you up
and toss you back into the embers
where I am soon to follow.
