There was a boy I saw in the halls,
he was beautiful.
There was a boy I saw smile,
and I tried to keep from hiccuping my butterflies.
There was a boy who sat next to me in class,
our hands touched.
There was a boy who asked me out today,
the first time.
There was a boy whom I kissed,
like I had never kissed anyone else.
There was a boy who I gave everything to,
trust should be earned, not guaranteed.
There was a boy who shattered my heart,
now the pieces remain swept under the rug.Β Β
There was a boy I thought I loved,
but I had no idea who he was.
There was a boy, and I never saw him again,
at least not the same way.
Some lessons need to be learned the hard way.
