hp has "tiers" of poets now.
still not sure i completely understand
exactly what they mean
or how they're calculated,
but i can comprehend one thing:
this was never the point.
since when was writing our story
illustrating our emotions with words
and creating an outlet within this community
a competition?
a race to see who can pour their heart out
in a way that gets the most "clout?"
sure, in theory,
they aren't inherently a challenge
but if i know anything
it's that labeling people
in a comparative way
doesn't foster connectivity
i've already noticed
within, like, two days
that i click less on profiles
with "lower" ranks
even though some arbitrary calculation
could never determine their voice
and maybe that's just a me problem
but it feels like the system has been built
to make the "higher" tiers everyone's goal
after all, don't we all want to be on top?
to be the best?
we're all still just poets
none of us better
none of us worse
most of us hurting
and all of us searching
