SURGE

There is nothing more alive,

no moment is livelier,

more fulfilling...when

realizing and recognizing

a serendipitous moment;

it jolts the heart,

it is so unexpected, that

other matters are forgot.

Not too long to wait, and then

mind is suddenly alive with

sparks of inspiration...the hand

and heart are raring to take a stand

an inner force, a powerful surge,

is set to take charge.

Heart beats fitfully; fingers tap

as the mind takes time to grasp

this momentum...soon, sweet, bitter

verses, overwhelm mind and paper.

During unholy hours,

the wind's bizarre whispers

are difficult to interpret,

yet, all will be transparent,

all will soon be clear

like glass or a mirror

when dark gives way,

late troubled night segues

to a bright, newborn day.
