an open sea

The sand of the sea

grey with stones and shells

scented with sea air

and birdsong

gull cries a tale of

seafarers and high times

upon open ocean

The sand of the sea

settles into my thoughts

like a tide swept

by light of the moon

settles there in my soul

this quite stretch of sand

scented with sea air

and the gull cries on

an open sea
