Sanctuary

Since late February

I’ve been searching

For sanctuary

To take shelter

From the thoughts

In my head.

But my safety net

Has fallen and

I’m drowning,

I'm not

Numb,

And my

Heart isn't

Dead,

But it's

Hard to

Move on

Knowing it's

Just me.

I keep saying

It's only

temporary,

But losing you

Has torn

Something in me

In two.

And I don't

Know what

To say,

And I don't

Know what

To do,

Because all

I do is

Relive

The memories

With you,

Over and over

Again.

You gave

Me purpose

You gave me

A reason to

Fight.

And now that

You're gone

I'm

Struggling

To find a

Reason,

Because

I never

Loved myself

Like

The way

I loved you.

Notes

I lost my best friend in late February. My dog, Brody. Now that he's gone, I don't know how to move on without him. I miss him so much.
