What Truly Endures?

Folorunsho Obalugemo

What in life truly endures: is it

the river, with its perpetual ebb and flow;

or the sun that is ever waxing and waning?

Or is it man and his manhood, ever so:

of his strength, which do rise and fall

in power, wealth, fame, health and lift;

or the mountains whose foundations shift

in degrees due to seismic shakings?

Or is it time and season, the enfeebled heart,

with their measuring fickle finger of fate?
