Alice picks at the lettuce
in her meat-less salad
says there's no dressing
to please her easily.
I go to the counter
ask for reduced fat
of mayonnaise.
Her eyes wrap in delight
as I gently pour out,
the white soggy sauce
to tenderize
her taste buds.
Don't ask, I have no idea why I wrote this. It was just a date I went on in my 30s and a memory that I haven't forgotten.
